PST Artifact?

any thoughts on the cause of the slightly darker rim that is right on the edge of the limb between the surface detail and the base of the prominences?

The rim is visible in the 15 second video before processing and the image shown has been pushed through Registax6 using 10% of the best images and then stacked and wavelets applied. No other processing has been applied.

Image is from a PST and DMK41 CCD camera.

Lol, that's funny! :)

Incidentally Kev, what image format are you saving your images from Registax in?

I always save in 16-bit Tif format from Registax6. If I was using a DSLR it would be captured in Raw format then converted to 16-bit Tif. I stay away from jpg until I need an image for use on the web.
