A stab at M3

Not very competent on the DSO stuff, but at the end of my imaging session last night I had a go at M3.

Getting marginally better, but still a steep learning curve to climb.

Definitely getting there Geoff. Your Atik is the same as my SC3 for hot pixels by the looks of it. You need to do a dark frame and use that in Registax. That will get rid of the little wiggles.

I did some dark frames, so I must have gone wrong somewhere.

I did the load darkframe bit in Registax (or at least I thought I did)

Perhaps you clued-up chaps could advise on the process of applying a dark frame in Registax.

Before you select your AVI, select the dark frame. During processing there is an option box to tick so that it uses the dark frame. Should work out OK next time.

That is very good indeed Geoff. You've done a good job sharpening the stars. Very focus critical these beasties and you're spot on. There's some mottling of the background as a result of the sharpening. If you use PS you can avoid that using Select/colour range. The healing brush in PS always seems an easier way of dealing with hot pixels than dark frames even though it isn't as "pure"
