I've mailed the company but no answer yet, I thought we didn't pay this sort of thing in the EU?

I couldn't see anything other than an empty cart from your link, but I think you are on about VAT? If you pay VAT in germany you dont have to pay it here. Or you can get a VAT refund from the supplier and then pay UK VAT instead. If it's 19% in germany you are better off paying the UK's 17.5% VAT

Germany has just put up its VAT rate to 19%. I would follow Gordon's suggestion

Theres non to pay from EU countries, the guys are right - it's German VAT.

I always was of the assumption that the treaty of rome forming the European market was so that trade across europe was roughly the same, so yes its the nationals VAT sadly, its a shame we could not have a common policy then we would not be paying ludicrous petrol taxes.
