M51 Supernova with the Faulkes 2m telescope

Recommended Posts

Hi all, took this image yesterday using the Faulkes Telescope Project 2meter scope.

Even though it is an f10 scope, it always amazes me how 2 meters can collect light so quickly. There are just 20 minutes of data to make this image.

It is the pixel size that matters, not the f-ratio. A 2-m + detector with 1 arcsecond pixels is going to be 100 times faster than a 20cm scope + detector with 1 arcsecond pixels, not matter what the optical f-ratio of the respective scopes.
