A new supernova in Pegasus has just been spotted....

Thanks for the heads up, Mick.

Nothing on Latest Supernovae yet, and CdC does not appear to show a galaxy at those co-ordinates. Will follow this with interest.

presumably that means it's an 'ordinary' nova within our own galaxy, and not an extra-galactic supernova.

If it is true and it's 11.5 mag, it will be within reach of most of the scopes that we use.

It will give those beginners who have never seen a Supernova a chance to view one.

Excellent! I'm to give a lecture to the Astronomy Society of the Desert on June 10 about the role of Supernova research in discovering dark energy and dark matter!

This will give me something neat to toss out to the club members there!

and another newb follows! is this going to be visible to residents of the uk during the coming weeks! a supernova is one thing i would love to witness!

im hoping ill be around when betelgeuse pops it clogs!
