The Searhorse Nebula - Barnard 150 in Cepheus

Recommended Posts

Here's an image of one of my favorite objects, taken during the last new moon.

One of the first images shot with the 8300M+Powernewt Carbon Fiber model.

During processing, I discovered that it really looks like a seahorse looking to the right of the image, hence the name :p

North is on the left.

I hope you like it, and any comments are, as always, very welcome.

Cheers,

Harel :D

Squint - sure that's not a terrestrial cloud you've managed to image?? :p:D

I think your demonstrations of your scopes are proving to show their ability to get detailed images quickly! What focal length are you running?

I like the image, but I really can't see the 'seahorse'. What sort of exposure time did it require?

Sorry for taking longer than I wanted to respond - I just returned from travel :p

All the details (scope, camera, exposures, etc.) are listed under the better resolution image on my site:

The Powernewt is an F/2.84 8" system.

Very nice indeed!

Well done we surely like it A LOT!!!

John, Admaski, DP, Aris,

Thank you - I am really happy you liked it. After a week or so since I finished the processing, I do like it too. Wondering around the stars and nebulae is such a treat of astrophotography. It's kind of why I'm doing it to start with :D

Cheers,

Harel

I'm a devoted Barnard admirer and no-one images his catalogue better than you.

Lovely - but struggling for the hippocampus to be honest!

Olly

Thanks Olly :D

I didn't know it's called Hippocampus in French, so after a quick search I got to these names in various languages: Hippocampus,Seahorses,Seahorse,Hippocampes,Hippocampe,Seepferdchen,Seepferde,Seepferd,Zeepaardjes,Zeepaardje,Caballitos de mar,Caballito de mar,Cavallucci marini,Cavalluccio marino,Cavalos marinhos,Cavalo marinho - Beatrice

Thanks for these kind words! I am happy you like them :-)

Cheers,

Harel
