Saturn sketch

Here's a little sketch I made of Saturn on 26th April.

Seeing was excellent and viewing at 340x was very comfortable. For the first time, the crepe ring revealed itself very faintly. Was a tough spot and not at all as obvious as in the sketch. The "mock" ring was nice to see, but on closer inspection it does curve with the planet.

4 moons visible: Titan was to the East, Dione was just above the rings to the W and quite tricky to spot in the glare of the planet. Rhea and Tethys to the W.

In this sketch, N is down, E is right.

Hope you like

Andrew

Hi guys - thanks for your kind comments.

Sorry I never mentioned the scope. :) This was with my 12" f/6 David Lukehurst dob. When the seeing agrees, this is a fantastic planetary instrument, with its curved spider vane and small CO.
