Winter Solstice Sunset behind Kitt Peak

Here's a couple links to animated gifs of the Sun setting behind the observatories on Kitt Peak. Taken on consecutive evenings near the winter solstice, you can see huge differences between the seeing conditions. My friend Dean Ketelson of the University of Arizona Mirror Labs took the series and animated them, much as he did for the GCSP. He wasn't happy with the framing the first day, as he nearly missed the Mayall 4 meter, and didn't like the second one because the seeing was carp. Taken from Mount lemon in Tucson, it's about 50 miles through the atmosphere to the mountain. He used his 11" Lourey Houghton and a Canon 350D with an 11mm EP.
