  1. DPD delivery today from FLO. This time it was my new ASI585MC camera for planetary imaging and EAA. I've found that this camera is good for both.
  2. The Player One No Halo has also received glowing reports as a dual band. It's not amongst the cheapest mind you.
  3. No, the bottom 114mn Starblast will be just fine on your mount.
  4. The bottom one doesn't appear to have a tripod or mount, but as it's for to put on your own mount I would still select it. The seller also said it looks unused in sharp contrast to the dusty top one.
  5. Definitely the bottom link for the Starblast 114mm. Mirror is shown intact and is fully able to be collimated. Looks to be in reasonable condition with all the necessary parts present. The top one doesn't show the mirror and looks like there's primary collimation screws missing or can't be seen with the one poor photograph at a sharp angle. No doubt the bottom link. Happy bidding and good luck 🤞.
  6. Which dual band filter was it Stuart if you don't mind me asking? That's the next thing on my shopping list.
  7. Just post the link here. That way you will get several comments and points of view on the scope. Are you still just wanting to try a reflector and learn how to collimate them, or something more serious for prospective imaging?
  8. Good to see you got something out of your morning under the stars. I've been holding off on Jupiter and Mars for now. No wind, no Jetstream yet still we struggle. Damned skies eh?
  9. I abandoned the processing after looking at the quality graphs in AS4. The constant bouncing around with the wind is definitely not conducive to planetary imaging, or any imaging in fact. I would have been better using the 180 Mak on my AZ-EQ6. If it's not the Jetstream it's the damned wind. Why do we even do this Kostas? 😂
  10. Out this afternoon to grab a quick solar session before having to go out. I certainly noticed the difference in resolution using my ED120 this time as opposed to my ED80. Using a Herschel wedge and 7.5nm Baader Solar Continuum filter.
  11. Which dual narrowband do you have Peter? That's next on my shopping list. I just bought a new 585 today. I'll never learn 😔.
  12. I saw what you meant by less windy. It was just as bad here with Saturn bouncing around screen and sometimes off of it!. I persevered and captured a few shorter 60 second SER's due to this. I'll get around to processing them later and we'll see if PIP can do its thing.
  13. I went from 8" to 12"and then settled with my 10" go to dobsonian. It does everything I ask of it. Hasn't stopped me adding another three scopes though 🙄.
  14. Nice image despite the poor seeing Kostas. Venus is always hidden from my observing area unfortunately. I'm going to have another go on Saturn tonight i think.
  15. Welcome to SGL Stu 👋.
  16. Nice capture Paul. Very similar to my experience the other night. What scope and camera did you use?
  17. When I fitted clicklocks to the Starfield which were M63 I unscrewed the entire Axil lock which exposes the M63 thread. The entire Axil lock needs to be removed.
  18. When I changed the focuser on my 250 Synscan dobsonian to a Baader Steeltrack I found that using a concentre (concenter) to be invaluable in centering the secondary and setting the tilt. Saves a lot of time and frustration.
  19. Thanks. That's a very good point regarding location. Despite buying the 1.25" already I think I will just get the 2" and be done with it. Thanks all.
  20. Yes I understand your point and I will try it in my ED120, but if it does start to get overly warm then I will stop using it and upgrade to the 2" model. I am the only user of the equipment. I'll try it and update the thread with my findings.
  21. Yes I was aware of this however on a previous post regarding buying a wedge I discovered several well grounded members who stated that they were using their 1.25" Wedges with scopes up to 125mm without any problems whatsoever. I decided to try this for myself and find out.
  22. I bought this to finally try a bit of solar observing and white light imaging for myself. I have recently taken up planetary imaging these past couple of years which I thoroughly enjoyed so I decided to throw in a bit of solar (why not?) For today it was solely visual observing. Having never actually viewed the solar disc apart from a bit of projection as a young teenager. I was using a Skywatcher ED80 on a Vixen Porta mount. The sky wasn't entirely clear, however there was more than enough gaps to provide a decent session. Had the sky been totally clear i would have been using my ED120 and AZ-EQ6. I found the sun easily enough without a finder of any kind by simply using the ceramic disc on the rear of the wedge. Starting out with a 12mm BST Starguider for 50x I was immediately impressed by the string of sunspots across the entire disc. The Starfield Wedge has an inbuilt polarising filter which I used next by rotating the eyepiece holder until I settled upon my desired brightness. I thought i was already impressed but when I next added my 7.5nm Solar Continuum Filter i was really impressed. The details visible were great when I upped the magnification, first to 75x with an 8mm BST then 120x with a 5mm. At the higher of these magnifications the granulation became really apparent. I can only think that using a camera will make these stand out even more. Having to go out for a bit of shopping I ended my first foray into the world of solar. I was really pleased with the Starfield Wedge and totally happy that I decided to try solar. I can also understand the appeal of Ha observing and imaging though, but for now I have discovered another avenue for enjoyment with my equipment. Sorry for rambling on.
  23. I've no idea but I have one that I use for outreach and think it's decent for what it is and what it costs.
