  1. 3 legs for a tripod with 1 touch point? yes In a rectangular design with 4 touching bearings? No. And the facts blow all the words, in this particular design (results at the end of the video). And it seems that also for TEPP platform it works better this way. I'm truly happy with the improvement made.
  2. In this video i show the modifications i did to improve the stability of this equatorial platform after using it for about 6 months with my 12" dobsonian
  3. Thanks. I really love to benefit from my Dob potential. Unfortunately no matter the eyepiece i use i can't see this object visually, so, blessed EAA to allow me to see it. However, the near clusters blow my brain through an eyepiece.
  4. Yesterday was one of those nights with a strong smell of Sea, which i love if i can forget what it does to my mirrors. Anyway, artillery prepared, hair heater, shields activated and go. Observed some nice objects and choose this one for the record: M16 Eagle nebula Pillars of creation 115x4s 12" f5 GSO Dobsonian on Geoptik Eq Platform ZWO ASI294MC
  5. Annular Solar Eclipse on June 10, 2021 from Algarve, Portugal, Europe 1 minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCz_VTv697w
  6. Short video of how to subtract and apply darks in Sharpcap "on the fly".
  7. This is the fresh, simple and easy to do mini cooler i made. Easy and inexpensive project to lower the camera temperature and reduce imaging noise. No soldering needed. Very useful on hot summer nights. Be cool
  8. If you're thinking in buy a 12" solid dobsonian and have no idea how hard is it to place it and how long does it take, check this super short video (ups, spoiler!).
  9. My first experience with a Celestron Powerseeker 70AZ beginner refractor and trying both cameras, the zwo224 and the zwo294 with it. In a Supermoon (cloudy) night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_50kKiMzW8M
  10. After the disappointment with the Baader ClickLock i found this interesting and very effective solution to have centered my ZWO ASI224 and ZWO ASI294 astro cameras and my eyepieces on my GSO 12" Dobsonian reflector newtonian telescope focuser. This is the short video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLxmnvTjo9o
  11. This is about the massive power of the new Sequencer feature of Sharpcap software to EAA - Electronically Assisted Astronomy (and also can be used to Astrophotography). With a live action demonstration i show that with only around 2 clicks i get the live stacked image on my screen. Amazing. Then i show step by step how to build a sequence like mine, which will do it all for you and make your observing sessions even more pleasant. I used a dobsonian newtonian reflector telescope with a ZWO ASI294 camera over an equatorial platform but you can use it with any other set up. Have fun!
  12. Thanks. A strong platform works well for EAA with a dob, even with a bigger one with the versatility advantage: 1 platform many scopes.
  13. I have wide views to the sky, it's true. Many years ago i choose to run away from the big city and it was one of the best decisions i've made in my life for many reasons. 🙂
  14. Thanks. Well, it really was a game changer for the way i enjoy astronomy.
  15. Compilation of pictures from my astronomy night sessions after 2 months doing EAA with a 12" GSO dobsonian telescope. This images are not Astrophotography, they are EAA snapshots and aren't post-processed. Enjoy!
  16. Image not edited (EAA) what you see is what you get. Got it last night very low in the sky, at only 5º lat and within 1 minute i had this image on my laptop screen. Dobsonian power. Omega centauri globular cluster NGC5139 the largest and the most massive known globular cluster in the Milky Way at 17k light-years distance from Earth. 19x4s zwo 294 12" dobsonian in eq platform
  17. A simple and inexpensive way to protect the laptop from dew and also avoid light from it. I use this with my set up: a 12" dobsonian newtonian reflector telescope and my laptop.
  18. This short video shows the app i use to get red screen during my observing sessions with my 12" dobsonian reflector newtonian telescope. Enjoy.
  19. Video where i review and share my experience with these 2 Zwo Asi astronomy cameras and the major advantages and disadvantages i found on them. The set up i use with them is a 12" GSO dobsonian reflector newtonian telescope with an equatorial platform. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXx0dVCgP7A
  20. Last night Image NOT edited (EAA) M13 Great Hercules Star Cluster Stack_67frames_268s (4s/frame) 12" f/5 dobsonian+eq platform+zwo 294 But even better is to see it through the eyepiece. Magic cluster pure photons.
  21. Just add that for the ES 9mm 100º used in the video, the field of view is 3mm below the eyepiece shoulder, so, at the metal barrel. To get the right spacing is to measure from MPCC thread until the EP shoulder and take 3mm to get the 57,5mm (or 55mm if M42 CC adapter used). Watching later, I think i was not so clear in the video about it.
  22. This video is to help you decide if you are a coma corrector buyer and also to help people that struggle putting things to work with the Baader MPCC. I use a 12" f/5 GSO dobsonian reflector newtonian telescope, different eyepieces and ZWO ASI224 and ZWO ASI294 cameras with spacers and a low profile TS extension as my set up which works like a charm with this CC.
  23. In this video i make an introduction to the basic principles and steps to do EAA - Electronically Assisted Astronomy with a 12" dobsonian newtonian reflector telescope. If you want to enter EAA world and struggle with sharpcap you will enjoy the live action with all the little steps to overcome the difficulties and successfully observe a nice object in your device in just a few seconds and then take a beautiful snapshot at the end. Shame on me i forgot to post the video here and i also forgot to mention this forum. I've just added the link to Stargazerlounge EEVA subforum at the youtube video description. I'll make sure next time i don't forget. Got to visit you more i guess.
  24. I found an issue in my 2" low profile double speed focuser which allow light intrusion (leaks) and affects mainly imaging (astrophotography or EAA) but also visual observations through an eyepiece. This is an issue that exists in different focusers. In this video i show it and work on an effective and permanent solution for that. This leaks are hard to detect because they may happen mixed with other issues like vignetting or amp glow and also can be confused with them. This leaks are more evidenced during moon nights and/or other light sources. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MY9y6R_i29c
