Retail therapy fever strikes again :-)

  3. I hang my head in shame Nick ;-) In my defense, how do you expect me to afford custom cut foam when I've blown all my budget on eyepieces! :-)
  4. Well, after a sleepless night thanks to the OCD appreciation society (aka SGL!) ;-), I sorted the case this morning before work. Found some spare foam and even added my filters in there for good measure. Happy now, and Mike I think I got the Leica bang in the centre of its range ;-) I shall stop taking this thread over now and look forward to seeing everyone else's Fung Shui'd cases :-) Stu
  5. Ah yes, I see where you are coming from. A project for tomorrow :-)
  6. To quote a film, 'Tempting....., but no!' :-) :-)
  7. Lovely job Mike, precision work there ;-) I think I need some new foam inserts for mine, too many changes. Bet that missing 7mm BGO keeps you awake at night though ;-)
  8. Derek, my humble apologies for causing such distress ;-). Having looked back at the pictures I have gone to have a lie down in a darkened room! I also noticed that the 13mm is positioned lower than the other three, a traumatic situation for us eyepiece case OCD sufferers.I shall endeavor to rectify the situation and re-post the image :-) Stu
  9. Just to update my case with the addition of the Leica. I know Shane was worried about my addiction, so he will be pleased to know I'm now down to 'just' two cases, one Widefield and one Ortho/Plossl etc I do have another for prisms/diagonals but we won't mention that here ;-) So, this one has my big boy 2" ethos/Nagler plus the Leica and VIP Barlow This one (same as a few posts ago, just for the record), serves as my travel case, for solar and for higher power/double splitting. I don't think I need anything else, but in a few years time I may look to add back some Delos or XW in a couple of spots. Stu
  10. That's very true John. One other benefit of lightweight eyepieces is that when you change them, so long as you have a little tension on the clutches the scope tends not to move. I enjoyed a very nice session with this kit last night. It covers all bases except for very wide field Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I find myself frequently using my case of Orthos/Plossls plus a couple of extras I've got, in a lovely small case..... 24mm Panoptic 18, 12.5, 9, 7, 6 & 5mm BGO/Hutech 25, 20, 15 & 11mm TV Plossl 3 to 6 Nag zoom Most bases covered in a case that's easy to take away and with eyepieces which keep the balance on a small Giro mount. I really enjoy using them all I must say, particularly with the TV85 Stu Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. My old 12.5mm BGO too :-) OCD struck again and I've just managed to replace it finally for a reasonable price :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Lovely set Shane, but you've really set my OCD off...... I know they are arranged in f/l order, but shouldn't the Plossls and Orthos be in two separate groups?? ;-) ;-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Very neatly arranged anyway, looks great. Stu Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Great looking set Mike. So what is going to fill that gap ;-) Stu Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Yes, that's very short I would say, mine all have around double that, more in some cases. The answer above explains it all very well. I have a triplet too though, and the focus travel on that was still around 90mm with the original focuser. That was bought some years ago and I think triplets have very much become focused towards imaging now though. Stu Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I'm with Joves, I don't have any issues with reaching focus with any of my refractors with a similar range of eyepieces and a mixture of types. Does seem strange but as you say, it was supplied with them so is presumably designed that way. Don't know why though!! Is the focuser very short travel? That's all I can think of. Stu Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Interesting, why do you think that was ie what did you prefer about the 32mm? Cheers, Stu Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Yes Jules, sold my 9, 12.5 and 18 at the same time, and then realised it was a mistake and replaced them when I could afford it. Have gradually been extending to shorter focal lengths as I realise the eye relief is ok, won't go below 5 though. Stu Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Hi Rob, Yes, totally. It works very well for me in the 76 so no reason it won't be great in an 85. Lovely compact eyepiece but gives fantastic views. Stu Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Sorry to repost this again so soon. Just made a decision about selling a couple more ep's and have now reached a final set for my 1.25" travel/ortho case. The 24mm Panoptic has never really had a home, and is ideal for widefield at dark sites with a 3.4 degree fov in the TV76. At the other end, the 3 to 6 Nag zoom gives me mags up to x160, more if barlowed so all bases are covered. Quite happy with this now so will stop fiddling! Really enjoying my orthos as I keep saying ;-) Stu Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I agree with that in terms of quality (I have both), however I do find the 24mm better in that it delivers practically the same fov but with a smaller exit pupil and the darker sky background which comes with it. Under anything other than a nice dark sky, this gives better results to my mind. You could probably lose the 32mm Plossl in that case and get something else? Stu Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
