  1. That's sounds like a good option and could also help with stability to but then I guess your going into the realms of shed type obsys but still think it would look great 👍, really like your new obsy
  2. Just an update, I have been playing with the scope during daytime and can just power the mount alone and run synscan app in eq mode for visual work, just got to add my finderscope, so will check the concensus of opinions of the guests which they'd rather do/see imaging of sorts or visual
  3. Brilliant, real pleased it passed the storm test abd with the reinforcement still to be done will be even better, top job, Re the water tank look, I was going for a more covered hot tub look 😉👍
  4. I'm impressed, I really like it Stu. When the rods are in the ground it stands a good chance. Really like your ingenuity in the obsy construction. Good luck and look forward to first light with it kitted out 👍
  5. Thank you, I'm using the zwo asi294mc pro, I've since got a zwo 2 inch ir uv filter now so hoping to bring more details out.
  6. That's a nifty bit of kit indeed. Not sure how it would work with my FF, spacers and 294mc pro, there would be a lot more hanging off the back of the scope for me 😬
  7. I am just imagining the dear Peter Aliss commentating on this, what a treat that would be 😂. Hopefully the get together will make the people interested and even more into astronomy, seeing things that can't always be seen by the eye. Hopefully the chap with the alt az scope will bring his.
  8. Haha, I like that 😂. I'm going to pitch the idea to sky sports now 😂, on your suggestion of another scope I'd love to have another scope to set up, another az gti mount and scope would be great. One of my partner friends bf has a scope so I've suggested he brings his. The bins will definitely help and I've a laser pointer to use if needed and allowed (it's under 1). They all know I image just think it's piqued their interest. Thank you, I'm beginning to think it can work, with the use of sky safari too can work. Definitely get the chairs out to point out constellations and maybe the ISS. I like the sound of the flip diagonal, I shall have to investigate more on this. I've never heard of one before. No one touches my scope except me and I'm the biggest clumsy baffoon there is 😂
  9. They know I only image nebula and galaxies really and seen my images. The moony occasionally, and they certainly know I'm not near hubble quality as I tell them haha.
  10. Brilliant idea, thank you, this is why I posted here to get ideas and advice, as I'm generally best sitting on my own imaging one target for the night haha, prefer my own company personally 😉
  11. I plate solve with my asiair pro so easy enough with that. I like the idea too of using stellarium or sky safari to say, get let's go view this that or the other then slew to it, plate solve and take a shot, then boom there you are, hopefully inspired people. Yep ordering a clear night will be priority and also bring their wallets with them as I'm sure they will want to upgrade or get into astronomy haha. The other half's probably not though 😂
  12. Yes they do drink haha. Totally agree with you on wgat they've seen of my images abd what they expect. I've saud they won't look anything like the finished article. I think I can keep it in EQ mode and run with synscan on my phone and replace the osc with ep,but would rather not.
  13. Thank you that's a good suggestion. Just looking for ideas as I don't really want to dismantle my set up to fit the diagonal and eyepiece for this session.
  14. Hi I am 100‰ an imager and my setup is for imaging. But my partner will be holding a get together for some friends and they want to learn some stargazing with me as they are impressed with my images. My set up is sw 72ed AzGti eq mode, asiair pro, zwo asi294mc pro. Now I don't want to dismantle my set up for imaging to do an observing session. So do you think it's feasible to slew to targets and take a quick 20-30 sec single sub image to show them various targets, obviously not faint nebula of small galaxies but clusters and other larger targets. Its so much easier to quickly slew to a target, plate solve take an image quickly and point into the sky where it is located. I will have my binoculars for them to use to see large asterisums
  15. Hi Yep, I kept racking the focuser in an out to check and stayed in place. The screen shots from ccd inspector were before my adjustments with the laser collimator, so will have to test these when I get clear skies again. I shall use the recommended 55mm of back focus spacers first 17.5mm from sensor, 21mm & 16.5mm ones. Cheers Lee

  17. Here's my rendition of the Great Orion Nebula. A series of 60, 120 & 180sec subs stacked in dss, processed in Startools and little tweak in photoshop. Looks much better on the laptop than devices. Took this image a while ago and only just got round to processing it. Just over 1 hours worth of data, 120 gain - 10°. Skywatcher 72ed ds pro az gti in EQ mode, asiair pro, zwo asi294mc pro. And yep saving for devices or Web has, degraded the image.
  18. Hi @alacant Update to my post above. I have used my laser collimator (never thought I'd use that again and was still collimated too) and made a paper mask to carry out your suggestion of reseating the focus tube mechanism. I undone all the grub screws took the mechanism out then reseated until the laser beam was hitting the centre mark then carefully tightened each grub screw until held firmly in place. My first image shows before any adjustments and last image shows the final position, still not perfectly centred but much better than it was. I'm hoping this may help my issue. I still have a zwo t2 tilt adjuster on order incase of finer adjustments needed.
  19. Just an update on my thread, I've downloaded ccd inspector and ran through my first image before any adjustments and my last image with shims added and a tweak of the grub screws for the top bearing rollers. I'll attach the relevant screenshots. Betelgeuse was my adjusted image and NGC 2244 was the first one unaltered. Any thoughts. On a side note I'm going to try my laser collimator through the scope today to see how centered it is.
  20. Hi, have you had a chance to try your scope tilt issue yet. I had a very brief go tonight with mine. I connected the rotator this time to my scope. So the imaging train is zwo 2 inch ir uv filter, screwed into rotator, the FF screwed on the correct 55mm back focus to 294mc pro. Tried on 60 second exposures still eggy in top right and left corners. Then tried the sims that came with the osc one by one, drill same issue. So my reckoning it's either tilt in the focus tube or tilt of the sensor. I've ordered a zwo tilt adjuster from FLO, so if I still have the same issue after using that it's got to be the focus tube. Guiding was good tonight so not that.
  21. In the image my ir uv filter screwed onto the nose piece of the FF then inserted into the focus tube along with the 55mm spacers then 294mc pro. Since that image I've added the rotator instead of the original visual back to have a secure imaging train (think the bevel of the FF nose piece was giving me tilt) , the filter will screw onto the rotator. So it'll be rotaor/filter then FF then spacers then 294mc pro. So will try 56mm bf. Sorry for hijacking your thread Stu.
  22. I like the look of this indeed, shame though it doesn't have my ovl field flattener on it as with my sw 72ed with rotator, 2 inch zwo ir uv filter and my 294MC pro shoukd be 55mm but I think it's more like 56mm with the star pattern I'm getting.
  23. I look forward to watching your build, I'm always very envious of fellow members with observatories in their garden, just a pipe dream to me without my own garden. Good luck Stu 👍
  24. Definitely a star tracker and sturdy tripod too. There's some bargains to be had out there on the used market.
