  1. Back where it belongs. 😀 Can I ask. Are those tube rings a DIY job or can you buy them? Look ideal for my little 102 as I cannot get standard tube rings to fit.
  2. The Human Cosmos. My kind of read - always have been interested in our curiosity with the heavens. ADM adaptor for the AZ GTI - it's solid - never been so pleased with a chunk of metal. A USB B - C cable for my mac. Hopefully no more looking around for the tiny A - C adaptor. Finally a SVBony illuminated eyepiece. Quite expensive for a SVBony product however seems to be well built.
  3. It says it's a Molle Pouch Tactical Utility Pack but i'm not in the foreign legion so a bum bag it is. Luckily sandals are optional.
  4. I have the televue 8mm, baader ortho 10mm and just purchased a SLV 12mm. All give great views. So whatever you choose I'm sure they will be great.
  5. A 12v/6000mAh TalentCell battery and never ever, ever - ever would i have thought i would want a bum bag until i discovered Astronomy.
  6. I know you want Mac specific software - Siril is ok but I've just downloaded Crossover and have run Pipp, autostakkert and registax without any issues on a mac plus much easier to use Takes around 10 mins to get up and running. Free 14 day trial too https://www.codeweavers.com/crossover
  7. Hello all, A few weeks ago i purchased a ZWO 120MC-S and a AZ GTI mount and finally managed an attempt at capturing Orion using a Bresser 102/460xs. The before and after are attached - PhotoShop was used for the editing. Firecapture on a mac for the recording - 30 seconds. No where near as good as most images that are added, however delighted what is hidden and can be found using my modest setup - lot's to learn, however i'm very pleased I used Firecapture on a Mac and Crossover to run Pipp and Autostakkert! (first attempt). Attached is the Firecapture settings file - i'd appreciate any suggestions on setting tweaks or any other advice. 8. 1 little book. Only had a thumb through but a nice grab and go read. One for a nip on the cold nights the other to sip when cloudy.
  9. A Omegon flip mirror recommended on here. Tried it last night and it's fab one of my better buys. Can't go to the pub fatal mistake of browsing the FLO website and they have the AZ GTI mounts in stock, so why not. Hopefully makes it a little easier to find what i'm looking for. Finally a 40mm eyepiece from a chap in the for sale section. Suppose i should advertise a few items myself as i now have a few neglected items.
  10. The November issue had the astrophotography of the year monthly calendar the December issue moon phase calendar. Scratch that, that's when the arrived in the post. So - The December issue had the astrophotography of the year monthly calendar the January issue moon phase calendar.
  11. A little bored and struggling with processing images using SIril. Reading the forum and came across these posts which is much more enjoyable. Here is my collection, a few purchased from members at SGL. I started in April at the beginning of lockdown - a little overlap however i've never looked through any other eyepieces apart from these so enjoying the journey so far. The SV113 12mm Svbony 60 degree eyepiece was my first upgrade from the stock eyepieces - £24 and it's actually really good.
  12. By that was fast. Only ordered yesterday from FLO. A blower. Thought i'd try a Vixen SLV 12mm - a few favourable reviews on here from some knowledgeable people. Hopefully a good all rounder for my scopes. And a focal reducer just to see the difference in my little Mak. Worth a try for £19.
  13. Hopefully soon. No opportunity the past two weeks so bought a solar finder and filter and thought I'd try the sun. So obviously solid cloud during the day too.
  14. Hi Luke, It's just the basic one https://www.firstlightoptics.com/zwo-cameras/zwo-asi120mc-s-usb-3-colour-camera.html unfortunately looks like FLO have sold out. But maybe available elsewhere. They do have very good reviews.
  15. A little camera from FLO and another 2 wood trays to keep my gubbins close to hand rather than rummaging in drawers. Gubbins mainly being allen/hex keys.
  16. Two books. Half-Hours with a Telescope for the grand total of 54p from Amazon which was recommended on another post here but i cannot find it - so thank you if reading this. It is actually quite a lovely read. A History of the Universe in 21 stars (and 3 imposters) - nothing too taxing, a leisurely read with a cup of tea and a biscuit as i ain't no Brian Cox. Finally i have a little Bresser 100/1400 Mak and the focus knob can be a little rough. A SVBony Helical focuser - seems to work just fine.
  17. Just happened to look over my shoulder whilst working from home and the clouds had cleared and a quick snapshot with the phone to the eyepiece this evening before she dipped below the horizon. Can just make out a couple of the moons i think - although maybe reflection as it's through the attic window! I do quite like this even without any detail with the trees in the shot. Pixel 5 StellaLyra 20mm eyepiece Bresser 102xs/460
  18. Does the attic count? Good views south west to north. I live by the coast and i think the dinner lady does the local forecast here. It's rare for an app or news forecast to be accurate - even a few hours ahead so i take advantage when i can - the windows fully open so i can make the room like an ice box and the chair is comfy. Although my son isn't too happy when he's back from Uni. I will add one from the garden next time i venture out.
  19. Hi all My first brief review so be gentle. The first time in my life i looked through a telescope was in April this year so my knowledge is limited. However, this has an advantage - anything i see is new and i'm constantly oohing and aahing in an odd Kenneth Williams kind of way whenever i see something invisible to the naked eye. Occasionally a mad cackle especially last month when i saw the Orion nebula for the first time. What i have learnt has mainly been through this forum or simply just trying things out, hopefully soon once lockdown ends i can join a club to have a little more conviction to back up what i'm writing. Anyway, back to the eyepiece. I saw the StellaLyra eyepieces advertised here a week or so ago and at £39 and being from Yorkshire it ticked an important box - the value for money one. It arrived today and the clouds cleared for an hour giving me a little time to give this a quick view. It's a nice eyepiece, looks solid and feels nice in the hand. Although the bottom eyepiece cap takes some effort to remove. I compared it with a Televue 20mm plossl - i have no idea if this is a suitable match i know the FOV is different but as they are both 20mm i thought why not. The unscientific test was to try and see which was sharper and to count the smallest craters and after swapping the eyepieces back and forth the Televue was slightly sharper but as to how much, very little to my untrained eyes. I've attached an image and a video i took from my mobile and a simple bresser 102xs/460 telescope. If viewing through the eyepiece you will see more clarity than the attached image and video. Both taken through the Attic window as it's very windy +30mph. If you have got this far, you can see i have a lot to learn, however if you are just beginning your journey and wish to upgrade the stock eyepieces, go ahead i'm more than happy with it and i'm sure i'll use this for awhile yet. Dean
  20. Couple of filters and the 20mm 1.25 StellaLyra eyepiece only £39. Just had a quick view between the clouds and seems more than adequate for a beginner like me.
  21. Some wipes and thought i'd try a cheap camera and i got it to work on a Mac and i can view the windmill through my window and it's clear the next two nights and i have no idea what to do next.
  22. Recently i've been taking a few photos with my Mobile phone through the eyepiece and using a little photoshop creativity made them half decent (although maybe not accurate!) so went old school and ordered some prints from Boots - 5p a photo so nothing to lose and they actually turned out rather well. The attic is my shed so lots of space to decorate. Not sure if the boy will be so pleased when he's back from Uni though.
  23. Another attempt from this evening. Not too bad for a bortle 7/8 area. For the artistic licence i used https://photokemistartools.weebly.com/workflow.html. Very rough but the 1st attempt. Bresser 102/460xs Televue 25mm Plossl Pixel 5 phone
  24. Reading favourable reports about the svbony zooms, thought i may as give it a try £56 and my first ever purchase off ebay. Ordered Thursday and arrived this morning. It's not far off the size of my trusty 102.
