  1. Thanks guys, I’ll stick with the film for the time being and look at a filter to help improve the image further. Just need to figure out how to fit my 290mm to my scope now lol.
  2. Ok thanks, I've got my front film arriving today, just wonder if the wedge is worth the the extra. Not sure how much improvement I'd see over the baader film.
  3. My reasoning is with a 2" I can put it straight onto my scope as I have a 2" Baader click lock on there for my AP setup. BTW, do I need a flattener for Solar?
  4. I've been offered a 2" LUNT wedge for £160, worth it? Any benefit over a 1.25"?
  5. Just got to figure out how to mount my 290MM to my scope now
  6. Ordered the Astrozap one :), hopefully get to try it next week.
  7. You'd recommend these then? https://www.firstlightoptics.com/solar-filters/astrozap-baader-solar-filter.html
  8. It's been clear here all week, unfortunately I've been ill (not Corona), so going out at night has been out of the question. So I'm now thinking why not do some solar imaging
  9. Hi Thanks, so film over the object is the cheapest way to start. What kind of quality of images could I expect with that? I was looking at these? https://www.astroshop.eu/mounted-foil-filters/seymour-solar-helios-solar-film-146mm/p,63283
  10. I have a ES 102 Triplet, ASI 294MC Pro, ASI 290MM (probably best for the solar?) and mount. What do I need to safely photograph the sun? Just solar film? What's the next step up? Thanks Andy
  11. My stick runs Polemaster, PHD2, NINA and Stellarium. It's ok, Stellarium is a bit heavy though. Mine is the M3 stick.
  12. I have the pocket power box and Pegasus 10A supply. Both are excellent quality. Couple of pcbs on eBay at the moment.
  13. Very strange, be interested to know if the 12v rail was connected to those screw hole earth points with nothing connected.
  14. That definitely shouldn’t be and would indicate a short on the board that’s going to ground. All screw holes are always ground points.
  15. Test both pins to a ground (usually the metal surrounding a screw hole). One will be short and show 0 ohms, the other should be open circuit.
  16. The main thing to check is that you don't have a short on the DC in, so between the centre pin and the outer ground. If that's shorted then a diode or capacitor inside has failed.
  17. I looked at one on eBay and it has the same markings so it's not a hole.
  18. Is that a hole in the chip? Bottom photo, top left IC. You can get a new PCB for £100. With the PCB out, check the power input for a short circuit using a multimeter.
  19. Looking to replace my Starshoot autoguider, but would also like do some planetary/lunar etc.. So was thinking how the 290MC compares for autoguiding against the 290 Mini?
  20. Can an ZWO EAF be fitted to these? Can’t tell how the bracket would fit on the bottom of the focuser .
  21. Steve, kind of correct. I’ll PM you. Certainly nothing negative about FLO or Es! I’ve apparently just been extremely unlucky.
