  1. The graphics may not be perfectly accurate as the circles were just drawn by hand rather than to engineering precision .....I have edited my original post to add the explanation.
  2. Try out the capture software mentioned. They allow you to see the histogram whilst changing exposure and gain. Aim for around 70-75% and you should start seeing the blob clearing. Take a short video and then use the stacking software to pull out the individual images and stack them. The detail will pop out. Here is a helpful link for Firecapture https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/698787-official-firecapture-tutorials/
  3. That mount axis line is showing where the mount is pointing at present (in blue). The red circle is what the mount is rotating about and green circle is where it should be rotating about. Our aim should be to get red circle to line up as closely as possible with green.
  4. It is shown as pointing to NCP (white line). Polaris is shown as a separate marker.
  5. You are correct. Guide or main camera direction is not important ๐Ÿ™‚
  6. As you can see from the diagram, visibility of Polaris is not a must. You could describe an arc that is further and further away from the pole, but the accuracy is going to be slightly less as you go further away.
  7. I have and do use the Bahtinov mask. I focus before doing a session, but its hard with the standard focuser on the Astromaster and its not an easy task (I'm no great DIY expert) to replace this one with a better focuser. And as Vlaiv has already said, I am dealing with a spherical mirror after all so I have those limitations But hey make the most of what I have is my policy, until I upgrade.
  8. Yes, there is lots of data in there for 30mins and I was amazed. Which software did you use for deconvolution and what settings. I had applied default deconvolution on this image in Siril.
  9. Here is my attempt on capturing M13 last weekend. Consists of just 30mins worth of data taken with the ASI224mc on the Celestron Astromaster 130EQ OTA mounted on HEQ5 pro. Stacked in SIRIL and processed using a combination of Siril & Gimp. Comments and suggestions welcome ๐Ÿ™‚
  10. I wish it was made clearer on the website ๐Ÿ˜ž I had purchased it just last week based on this statement on the website..... "Affinity Photo for iPad is a genuine desktop-grade, professional photo editing app. Completely reimagined for iPad with the same power as the desktop version and with complete file format compatibility, you can work across the same document wherever you are, without any compromise." So what does the Stacking feature on ipad do? There is an option available I recall. Anyway its good to hear that macros will work. Is there anything else that doesnt work please?
  11. What software are you using. Try something like SharpCap or Firecapture. They are excellent for planetary imaging. Take videos and stack them in software like PIPP, Autostakkert, DSS etc. I would have recommended SIRIL but its not really suited for planetary for the moment.
  12. Could you upload a single file here so we can check
  13. Suggest you take a look at Siril in the link provided by Astronebulee. This software does stacking and more. There are plenty of tutorials on their page as well.
  14. I use SIRIL for most of the prep work. Its only the final processing where masks etc are needed that I am hoping to use Affinity
  15. @frasax And thanks for integrating it into SIRIL as well๐Ÿ‘
  16. I have purchased it for ipad. Now to see if it does what I expect it to do
  17. I'll second that. Get to know its capabilities
  18. As with all tools it takes time to get your head around it. I use a GUI tool called Sirilic to run Siril and do the stacking part. Rest is just a case of getting to know a workflow. This tutorial should help https://siril.org/tutorials/tuto-scripts/
  19. I have tried Pyastro and didnt find it that useful. I tend to use GMIC which is not astro specific but certainly helps. I do my initial processing in SIRIL and its only the final polishing that gets done in Gimp
  20. Good news ....Let me know if it can do the astro bits please ๐Ÿ™‚ I use Linux on my laptop and the Ipad pro is the only other device I have atm that is supported by Affinity
