  1. I downloaded the apass and Gaia files to speed up PCC in Pixinsight ( broadband here is glacially slow). Worked fine the first few times. Now PI won't read them and defaults to the server in Strasburg...a disaster. So I tried reinstalling them but now when I look at the files in PI they are greyed out even though when I look at the same files in MacOS they seem fine. I have pointed the apass and Gaia processes at the correct directories but PCC just won't read them. I have no idea whether this is a MacOS problem, a PI problem or just me being stupid. Can anyone help??
  2. I really can't thank you guys enough. I downloaded the ASI software and can now open the fits images on my mac. Just a single sub looks great. Now to start stacking.
  3. Thanks for all the help. I reloaded the files. All the jpegs are there and the fits files are there too but not shown as images. When I try to access the fits files my computer says that there is no application available to open the files. My computer is an apple and I don’t have access to a windows one. When I search the App Store for an application to open the files it tells me that there is no app available. So you’re right that the fits files are on the thumb drive but I can’t access them!! I can’t be the only ASIair user with Apple hardware. Any advice?
  4. They are jpegs! How do I convert then to FITS?
  5. I've been a visual astronomer for years but a very new imager having only just acquired the equipment. It all looked so easy with an ASIairplus...at least on the youtube channels. I sold my old SCT to pay for a dedicated camera an ASI071MC Pro. Ive now tried imaging M81/82 on 3 nights and the subframes all look great as they arrive at my iPad but when I finish the session and plug the thumbdrive into my computer all the images look like this. What am I doing wrong??
  6. Thanks for the advice. I’ve just ordered two from Rother Valley.
  7. Where can I get a dew heater that will plug into the power outputs of my ASIAir plus. All theUSB ports are in use and my old Astrozap has a cigarette lighter b connector.
  8. Sorry John does that mean that I do need to connect the shutter release?
  9. I've connected my D60 to a USB port on an ASIair plus. Do I need to connect the shutter release cable as well ?
  10. I’m just making a move from visual to AP. Waiting(aren’t we all!) for my refractor to arrive. I switched to Mac computers years ago and would welcome some advice on suitable software for stacking and image manipulation. I have PS but only elements and I don’t think this would be any use. Full-fat Photoshop seems very expensive.
