  1. Can someone move this to Deep sky imaging, looks like i put i in the wrong place!
  2. Thanks , yeah the integration time is really helping, I'm also always picking up new processing techniques and I'm back to dithering again now I'm settled with the guiding, its all helping. I'm not really a fan of the red and blue look and also prefer the golden palette which didnt take much forcing in the processing to be honest.
  3. Some say Nebula's are easy targets, I guess they are to a point but Ive worked hard to get this so far. I made the most of the last two clear nights imaging from 9pm until 5am working on two different projects. Ha 4hrs 30mins and 4hrs 50mins of OIII. The OIII is very weak and could with double the integration time but I'm still pleased with the result. SW80 ED DS Pro scope, SW HEQ5 Pro mount QHY-9 mono CCD with Baader narrowband filters Stacked in DSS, processed in Photoshop. Ive worked none stop with the new camera since purchasing it from Adam, and I'm still learning and improving.
  4. I thought I would come back for another look...... yeah its still really nice! 😊
  5. Thanks Adam, I have been slogging away since having it, burnt myself out with some long nights if I'm honest but who needs sleep!
  6. I have been capturing this over a few nights recently, half the Ha was during a full moon and its pretty low in the sky and situated in an area with the most light pollution for me but it seems to have turned out ok. 7hrs total Ha, 20mins each RGB channel. Processed in PS.
  7. We learn something new every day! 😊
  8. While I often see the very quick dash of a meteorite, I saw my second best tonight! It lasted about 3-4 seconds was really clear and bright with a nice little tail. A very nice little meteriote. Unfortunately my best view will take some beating, I was up in Kendal years ago and me, my brother and my Dad watched a big fire ball, it was actually burning orange, with a long tail, two little ones trailing behind, it came from in the distance, flew over my brothers house and off into the distance again, we all stood there draw dropped as it came over head. One amazing experience and knocked the socks off the recent one that a few people saw. Tonight's was still cool though! 😊
  9. Could you put this in less of a 'this has gone way over my head' kind of way!? 😊
  10. So i had a play around this morning in DSS and I think I have found the issue! I would definitely say I have noisy subs anyway, moon and integration time play a part in this mostly but after playing around with different stacking settings I have found what made my first stack less noisy than my second and also realised that both were the same integration time not one with more than the other (long story!) Anyway, what made the difference was the 'Light' stacking setting, when changed from Kappa-sigma-clipping to Median is produces less noise in the stack but at the sacrifice of some details, problem solved! I must have changed the setting on the first stack a while back then changed back recently and didnt think it would have made any differences!
  11. They were taken at and around full moon so that's probably it! It seems the main nights we are getting keep falling on the full moon at the moment! 😊
  12. I'm going through one of those 'I hate all my images' phases, its easy to self destruct your own work sometimes and I get like that from time to time as I'm still trying to get on top of my own personal mental health issues. So to clear my mind I thought I would re process my SHO Rosette data to more of a 'Hubble palette' look. Its still a very noisy image as I didnt push the de noise to much this time to help the details. The noise is definitely not helped by the lack of integration time for the SII and OII wavelengths so will look to get some more data when it comes round again later in the year.
  13. So I wanted to take another look at processing some data today and Ive noticed something I'm a bit stumped by. When i first captured some Ha on the rosette neb, I processed the Ha data which im pretty sure had less integration time. it didnt take much to stretch out and see some nice details. Fast forward to having collected some more Ha and stacked to produce an SHO image, the ha data is worse and ive only just noticed this. It doesnt stretch out that well and becomes more noisy when stretched to the same level as the first stacked data. So why I'm still learning I would like to know what may be causing this! I believe there has been no change in settings in the DDS, so why would more integration time produce a worse stack with what appears to be lacking in detail!? Second is the latest stack with more integration time where you can clearly see more noise To add something that is even stranger, the first stack has a noisier background but less noisy ha details, the second stack is the other way round!
  14. I wish I could leave it out all night un attended but I've experience it starting to rain when it shouldn't have done, thankfully I had just gone back out side so ended up standing over my setup for 10mins with an unbrella!. Now I don't really trust the weather, and to add to that, the weather is never 100% as predicted, taking last night as a classic example where it was "clear" till 4am, there ended up being alot of light cloud around so I kept an eye out and only captured data when clear. I also don't have an observatory so I'm pretty sure everything would be soaked by dew or frosted over by the morning? There are not normally to many other issues to deal with but I would prefer to be on top of an issue (had one last night) to not waste a precious night's imaging. So sadly Im up most of the night, even when out till 4:30am, it does get a bit tiring, especially having to set up then pack down each time I'm out. I'm hoping to put together a more permanent set up in the future which will only be if I can sort an observatory.
  15. I've seen a few small flashes before but tonight I just saw a really bright flash high up towards the North, I'm pretty sure I saw a much smaller one just below it a few seconds later. It was as if someone flicked on and off a torch really quickly. Anyone else seen any random flashes in the nights sky before!? And no it's not a plane! 😊
  16. My first ever HaRGB. I really did fumble my way through the processing which had its fair share of issues, mostly the corners because sadly I cant get rid of the vignetting through my image train (suggestions welcome!) but i can live with it. 5hrs of Ha collected over 4 nights mostly under strong/full moon light. RGB stars collected over two nights but the integration time is very little. Stacked in DSS processed in PS SWHEQ5 Pro, SW80- ED DS Pro, QHY9 mono, Baader filters. I'm hoping to get some OIII to produce a different version but for now I'm happy with this one
  17. An external USB port, thanks Jesper 👍 I've now fitted it to my homemade external power box 😊
