Thanks James.

Thanks, have to see what the Ca-K line filter is like. Obviously it's not going to be anywhere like a proper Ca-K Lunt or Quark Ca-h. I think it'll show a little more detail than white light.

Awwwwww, thanks Jeremy, yeah, I'm overwhelmed.

Just WOW today. Lovely birthday gifts. I'm overwhelmed. Some had to be solar related, lol. And it's not even Christmas yet, lol.

Hi John, I thought I recognized your pic, I came to the Bristol astronomical society a couple of times when I lived in Bristol for a couple of years, lol.

Belated Solar FD and close up from 27th Nov 2020

Thanks vineyard, appreciate your comment. The techniques are a little different from any other astronomical imaging. Both the acquiring of the image data and processing, taken me the best part of a year and still learning, lol. -

Hi Luke, the Zwo Asi 178mm has given me consistent data and I can do region of interest without Barlow or powermate for close up imaging. I find the region of interest data quicker than changing to Barlow/powermate particularly if there's cloud around. I do use a tilt plate to counter any Newton's rings but even without it's not much. I'd highly recommend the camera. -

Welcome to the forum Roy, have fun with the new hobby and ask away any questions you may have.

Totally agree, aperture first then double stack later. I also went second hand which was half the new price.

I had a PST, wasn't impressed with the view. I much prefer the Lunt.bi had a Lunt 35m far outshined the PST so the 50mm Lunt in my opinion is the best.

Nigella Bryant replied to Nigella Bryant's topic in Imaging - Solar
I nearly set up to but by the time the sun moved past the tree's it had clouded up. Still gave me time to process some of the other days data. -
Hi all, processed another image from the 29th November 2020, full disk. Lunt 60mm DS and Zwo Asi 178mm. False colour added in PS CS2.

Solar Image from the 29th November

I guess it's just hit and miss, fog rolled in here just as I'd finished yesterday. I just have an hour's window from some trees and declining altitude of the sun from the RoR. So it's quite difficult but I've managed to get data on the 26th, 27th and 29th. Life's got in the way so still a lot of data to go through.
