  4. It was amazing, lovely to see. I've only seen two total solar eclipses in my life so far. Hopefully not the last. A while ago now. 1999 and 2006. I'm hoping to manage 2026 and 2027.
  5. I certainly have to use longer exposures when taking solar images in the winter when the sun is low on the horizon at latitude 51° compared to the summer.
  6. Hi, look under the post about Frank's book of the telescope. Below is a copy of a wooden scope. https://stargazerslounge.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=469303
  7. Great news, hopefully you'll get a break from the cloud soon. Enjoy and have fun with your new scope.
  8. There's a Devon group on here. Don't know anyone personally.
  9. I'm in North Devon. Yeah, maybe if enough of us got together. It would be a lovely thing to do again. Even perhaps a Devon Astrofest, lol.
  10. A few of us in Devon. Pity the Devon Association of Astronomical Societies doesn't exist anymore. Used to like going to the annual get togethers.
  11. I found an half price map of the moon from Astronomy Now just put up on the wall in the hallway.
  12. It's out there above the global warming. We'll be like Venus and all cloud cover, lol.
  13. Beautiful, apparently a chance of aurora tonight in bonnie Scotland. If it's clear ✨
  14. No not tent's (sorry about my humour) but interestingly you can buy tent's for observations when camping.
  15. Dome is a complete housing where a shutter reveals the sky, the dome rotates. Roll of roof is a shed where the roof rolls back giving an almost complete view of the sky.
  16. Hi, you can get telescope covers for outside but I think people also use some kind of low level heating. Mine are in a roll of roof shed and a dome so outside all the time.
  17. 1. Messenger not working right, lol. 2. Didn't get rid of the clouds. 3. Didn't stop the rain. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Welcome to SGL, most are sensible, honest.
  18. Brilliant isn't it. Seems a good mag on equipment reviews.
  19. Hi all, just a heads up, Astronomy technology digital mag £7 for two years subscription. Can't go wrong with this. https://astronomytechnologytoday.com
  20. Welcome to the SGL. Ask any questions you may have about the hobby. Have fun with it and enjoy it. I too am in Devon but it's a big county.
