This is an odd question....but.... do you find the Northern Lights to be a bit annoying for astrophotography ( DSO's etc...) , especially if it is a beautifully clear night with good seeing ??

    Full Moon

Nicely composed. Might be interesting to have another shot with the Moon in focus and the statue out.
  3. From a couple of years ago.... my old Opticstar80 F5, before I dropped it !!, with a 600D and a 60mm finder-guider set-up. The lap-top holder is from KakiBashi ( limited edition ) and is available from most skips. I think I took this picture because I had got Phd2 to work for the first time and I felt like a 'real' astrophotographer. ... and there seems to be a pair of eyes admiring the set-up from down the garden as well !!!!!.... yikes.
  4. Thanks @RayD I will look forward with interest to your findings.
  5. Looks very cool and nicely designed. I would be interested to know how easy the focusing ring is to adjust and get absolutely spot-on with the mask. Can it compete with the best Feathertouch, Moonlite etc....

Under the stars near the Tetons,USA, prior to the eclipse in 2017. In our stay we had 13 out of the 15 nights clear !!!! At this stage there was no Moon and we were at a high altitude, so, I could not resist a bit of 'outreach' with my lady travel companion. .... 30s is a long exposure with bears around !!!!
  7. I thought I would get this one in before the end of 2018. NGC891 LRGB taken with a Celestron C6 onEQ6 with the AtiK 414ex. 12x 1min L 16x 1min R 8x 1min G 12x 1min B

I do not load many photo's here ( because they aint any good) but every year or so I will add a few to remind myself that progress is occuring.

A Stella mate.... me bestist mate yyer cuud evr have (hic!)
  10. Thanks Martin. Yes low altitude is my problem as well. I get a helmet with associated Privet hedge and tree branch artefacts.
  11. Any info for the exposure and imaging gear. I've been trying to get this beauty for two years now. You have great detail there.
  12. Due to a couple of 'accidental' second hand purchases, I have a mixture of filters in my EFW2, which is slightly irksome. LRGB Hb Sii are Baader, Ha and O3 are Astronomik !! ... and yes they are are not parfocal. Hence my enthusiasm for Bi-colour shots.
  13. Crab in Bi colour Hb Sii (10"f4 with Atik 414ex) ( H beta ?? x 1min and Sii 85x 1min) I like the colour combo here. Looks like one of those electric space storms that the USS Enterprise tends to fall into. Near to morning this one, tracking was better than my last attempt, but I cant find a record of how many HB subs I took.... doh!!
  14. Good work Aidi. How long did it take to fit ?? Maybe with the full Moon, scuttling cloud and gusty wind, it is time to get the spanners out !!
  15. Thanks Adam, I am really very, very happy with the camera. The Mono just opens up a whole new palette of colour (ironically !!) and the sensitivity is awesome. The Narrow Band, Narrow field combo will keep me busy for many a night.
  16. Horse Head Bi Colour ( NGC 2023) 10" F4 + Atik 414ex ( Ha: 14x 1min, O3: 4 x 1min ) Not much O3 response, and the clouds rolled in at 04:30am....so only got 4 subs.
  17. Yikes..... I must have something similar going on as my bolt is also sliding off the bottom of the 'lug'. I have not taken the base apart to have a good look.... My hastey fix was to attach a nyloc nut to the end of the main lattitude bolt..... it works..... but it aint subtle. I
  18. Let us know how you get on with it @Aidan , I am poised over the 'purchase'button on this one.
  19. Great set of pictures @LightBucket. Looks a good mod. Thanks for posting.
  20. Wizard with the 10"F4 ( Atik 414ex mono) Bi-colour image ( 15x3mins Ha + 12x3mins O3) .... improvement on my previous attempt at Bi-colour. Almost at the 'hour-mark' for subs... ... whatever next ??.... Astrodons !!!!!
