  1. Nice unexpected Astro session; bagged asteroid Iris again easily, and also saw galaxy Cetus A for the first time too. Hope for better skies at SGL star party too to nab more goodies too! Fingers crossed! :)

  2. Nice viewing of Jupiter around 11:30pm when seeing steadied down. GRS easily visible, with another dark feature just about directly above in the  North Equatorial belt. Best views at 166x with 80A blue planetary filter along with ADC. :)

  3. Nice wee session with my goto. Nice to see Saturn & 4 of its moons.  Also, nice to see the dumbbell nebula once again, even in the poor sky conditions.

  4. No Astro mojo at the moment. Hoping to get it back after New Year again fingers crossed!

I think I've still got mine just no time to get out. When will the present wrapping ever end ;)

Think the cold weather isn’t helping either, nor the clouds, or the damp etc, but binos are always still handy for any quick outside nocturnal excursions still. :)

You will Gus, you will!  I've not exactly lost mine, but the lousy skies are getting me down, and Christmas will be downtime what with everything else going on.  So Yes - roll on early January!

      Doug.

  5. No WL action on the sun today, but at least with the help of my goto mount I’m seeing a very wobbly Venus in the heat! Better the than nothing I’ve had for the last 10 days or so! :)

  6. Oh oh! Gone and done it again! Buying another EP for my collection! Hehe! ?

  7. Ordered up some parfocal rings for my EP's. Hoping they make viewing much easier when switching EPs and having to refocus. Fingers crossed! :)

      Thanks Charl. Hope so. :)

  8. Phew! After today nights start getting longer and darker (eventually) again! 😁😁😁

  9. Plenty going on on the sun today,  in white light, so have a look if you get the chance to. :)

  10. Plenty of WL activity on the sun today. 😃

  11. Quick smash and grab for about an hour. Some old chums seen (M42 very clear, even without filters), and some new asteroids added to the tally! :)

  12. Refractoritis strikes again! Hehe! ;)

That was a good buy, i woke at 0230 and spotted it and would have gone for it

      Yeah, spotted it quickly! :)

  13. Same old; get set up to image Jupiter. Get 3 small runs done after aligning scope, and Bam! Clouds roll in to spoil play! Pity as Jupiter was showing some fine detail, even though the GRS is not on view.

  14. Scope set up and waiting. Covered up in case of slight prediction for rain up to 9pm, bit hoping by that time its ready to roll <fingers crossed!> 😃

  15. Skies looking good for later on to test out some fuzzies with some new 25x70 binos later on! :) 🤞🏻

  16. Skies looking nice and blue still after some thunder storms, so may nip out after the footie to look at Venus & Jupiter again if possible! :)

  17. Sky conditions not great outside, even though clear. Too much murk around, and hardly any transparency, so packed up for the night. :(

  18. Sky wasn't great, but still managed to see Neptune pretty well by pushing the magnification up to 214x with the Powermate. :)

Nice catch! Any Orionids out there?

Hi Reggie. Sadly clouded over soon after viewing Neptune alas, so unable to tell as yet!

  19. Third night in a row I've been able to track Vesta. Pretty good going for the UK I think! Vesta's movement over these three nights has been easily observed. Will post more sketches soon of its path. ?

  20. Time to collimate my C8 SCT with a star test. Always hate this part!  Groan!!!! :(

Blah! Clouds scudded in, so stopped the star test. I did manage though to use an artificial star along the full length of the garden, which seems to have done the trick. Stars look like stars again and not flying seagulls! 😀

  21. Tonight’s the night to try my first imaging of Jupiter with my ZWO ASI 120 mc camera. In two minds which scope to use, so may try both the C8 SCT and also the Omni 120mm ‘frac (obviously not both at the same time with the camera) ;)

  22. Tracking Venus with my goto mount between the clouds, in the hope of seeing Mercury when the sun disappears behind the roofline of the bungalow next door.

  23. Uh oh! New scope inbound! What am I like! 🫤

  24. Waiting to use my new dual speed 2" Crayford focuser. Please let the sky be clear and dark tonight! Double please! :)

  25. Was lazy last night before diner was ready (had limited time too) and viewed Venus through the double glazing in the dining room. Got a pretty good view too, and much warmer than outside! Hehe! ;)
