Looking good for clear skies tonight! Hurrah!
-
Looking good so far for clear skies tonight. Hope I don't get disappointed again when darkness falls! Fingers crossed for some meteor sightings, and a little observing too!
-
Looks like Saturday evening/night might be clear to do some observations of the heavens. Fingers crossed I can test out my new EP!
-
Looks like some clear nights ahead for the next three nights, at least that's what's forcast for where I live anyway. Fingers crossed!
-
Lunar V is starting to show, well before the X which should start approx 10:36p'm UK time.
-
Lunar X coming up around 10:36pm UK tonight, so fingers crossed for my first viewing. May also see the V too, so here's hoping! ????

Lunt wedge & an az4 mount nabbed off Shane & Jules for a late Christmas prezzy to oneself! Hehe!

Managed a quick smash and grab session for 20mins between clouds on Jupiter and the Moon with my grab n'go Porta mount and ST120 frac. Seeing was poor on Jupiter, but not too bad on the moon.
-
Managed to bag a new planetary nebula last night, NGC7027, along with Neptune too, along with all the usual suspects too. Had a nice 2.5hrs under some clear sky from 11:00pm till finish at 1:30am.
-
Managed to bag Venus just before I went behind houses, and Mercury too for the first time for ages. Pushed the mag a little, but could see the phase of Mercury very easily. Had a quick peek at Mars too!
-
Managed to catch a break in the clouds and see Vesta again. Nicely viewed with the help of Skysafari. Forcast pretty dire for the week ahead so may be the last time for a few days to track it again!
-
Managed to see Venus with my bins for about 15mins last night after sunset, and also Jupiter with my 4SE Mak for about 30mins at just gone midnight last night too. Seeing was poor due to conditions and altitude, but nice to be able to see something through the cracks in the clouds!
-
Managed to snap Vesta in a widefield shot with my Canon bridge camera. Yes!
-
My Astro mojo is on a high lately. Even cloudy weather is not damping it down! Hehe! ???
-
My new Altair Astro 102mm f11 frac arrived back home today after going back for the new focuser refit. So now I just need those clear skies to test it out tonight on Saturn & Mars!
-
My ZWO ADC arrived today, so managed to test it out on Venus earlier on. Worked great from what I could see. Need to try it out on Jupiter and Mars for some more tests with it, but so far looking good!

New (to me) Heq5 Pro goto mount got first light out tonight. The 2 star alignment proved to work very well. Looking forward to good views with this mount! 😀

nice one mate, there great mounts, i went for one because there lighter than the EQ6 but thay can handle the wieght, mines carryed the 102 and ed 80 + dew heaters cameras and got over 2min frames with no bother the only down is no slowmo controls its all got to be done with handset. ive never used the goto yet im worried its going to crash against the window in my obsyroom 😀. goodluck mate. charl.

New goodies incoming tomorrow. Can’t wait! 🔭

New scope arrived today! Only quite small, so smallish cloud penalty right?
-
New scope incoming in the next few days! 😉

Hi Charl. Had a very brief view of M13 last night. Sky conditions weren’t great, so M13 wasn’t showing its best. Forcast for tonight looks much better hopefully. From what I saw on the solar sunspots earlier on I know the views will be great. Already can see nice and sharp stars in the EP when looking around. 😀

Nice 2 hour session. Would have stayed out a little longer if it wasn’t too cold! Brrrrr........
-
Nice couple of hours observing. Managed to track Vesta down once again. Now warming up with a cup of tea as it is pretty chilly out there!
-
Nice Sunny day, with clear skies, so doing a little WL solar (small AR group on the sun), and checking Venus out too in the daylight with my C8 SCT on my goto mount!

Okay on the 63x - I tried earlier this afternoon but could not detect anything in an ST80 / ES8.8/82 that gave around 45x mag - the filter was bought for the ED80 but I use it on the ST80 as it is more compact , especially when used from indoors ... maybe a bigger filter for the ST120 might yield better results with the extra aperture ?

Nice to bag Mercury in the twilight, with Venus below it too again before they dipped below the houses nearby.
-
Nice to see Mercury again. Managed to spot it in my binos the last evening, then through my ‘fracs this evening.
