Played the new record - lovely music but rather a lot of small scratches and pops.
The 'warmth' of a vinyl LP being played... You don't get that with CD/DVD audio... they're 'cold' and 'clinically sterile'.

This is what I play my vinyl (33's & 45's) on... a Michell Focus One.
note: photo for illustrative purposes only. I am in the process of re-arranging my Hi-Fi separates.
My most recent vinyl LP purchase was 'Rosetta' by Vangelis. I have yet to play it.

Nice report Matt.
Personally I think the TV Radian e/p's are/were underrated. I have a 6mm and it is a pleasure to use. Maybe because the 'Instadjust'* gives varying eye-relief. When I purchased mine it was the Radian or another well known 6mm wide angle. Honestly though, I think I made the decision long before I saw one.

I am thinking about getting the FUNcube dongle. As I live in a studio apartment erecting an external antenna is an issue. I have a few shortwave receivers and at present use a random wire in the loft/attic and the earth wire terminated to the cold water pipe in the airing cupboard & 'Slinky' antenna streched across the ceiling in the bedsit room.
I do like the names you have given your shed and installation!

Quote: "...Red light etiquette is an unknown to me, I always observe at home amongst the fairy lights strewn around the garden. As a smoker I worry about lighters, do they affect dark adapted vision? Can I open my car door or do I need to shield the interior lights if I do? So much to learn regarding Star Party etiquette."
I removed my interior/courtesy light diffuser, (if that is the right part), and cut a piece of red rubylith to fit and refitted. Job done! - also when entering a site I use my sidelights. I smoke myself and no one has yet said anything to me about lighting up a cigarette (roll-up or ready made), cigar, pipe; (though I don't advise it just in case the loose ash accidently drops or gets blown into my optical hardware). Just don't forget the Jaffa Cakes!

I have a copy of 'Visions of Mars' on CD-ROM that I purchased in about 1995/6 when 'Trash Convertors' (erm, sorry 'Cash Converters') opened a branch opposite Reading railway station. It includes a speech by Prof Carl Sagan and included is Orson Welles version of "War of the Worlds".
