  1. Maybe not better all, also waiting to see..... Meanwhile I just unboxed a second ASI2600MC.
  2. Don't listen to @wimvb as he lives in eastern Sweden. In western Sweden near the Norwegian border (so sheltered weather wise by the Norwegian mountain chain) I did what the lady in the video did about 10 years ago and have now three obsies on my 14 hectare property, like hers found on hemnet.se. SQM 21.6 on good nights and this is what CO looks like right now.
  3. Yes, that is it. I recently read that someone here or on Astrobin (cannot now remeber who) had compared his old ASI1600MM with Astrodon filters with his new ASI2600MC and came to the conclusion that he preferred the images from the OSC! With a RASA 8 a filter wheel is out of the question (probably not very good with a RASA 11 either due to the obstruction) and only sliders or an Artesky adapter can work. If I had not bought the ASI6200MM, I would certainly have considered a 2600MM for my Esprit 150, but I just gave up waiting and fortunately the Esprit can cover that bigger chip.
  4. That is a tough question Adam @tooth_dr. When I now ordered a second RASA 8 for a double rig I was thinking long and hard about the camera I need for it and finally settled for a second 2600MC rather than an MM to avoid the hassle with filter changes. With the second OSC I can run one without filters for RGB and one with a dual band for Ha and Oiii. The ASI2600MC is just such a fantastic OSC that I have difficulties believing that an 2600MM with filters would be significantly better. I still have to deal with filters for my ASI6200MM on the Esprit rig but there I have a filter wheel.
  5. I have to say that if you are into fast Newtoneans (and not RASA like me) the Epsilons appear to produce much better stars than Sharpstar. The stars I have seen from Sharpstar images look big and squarish and quite odd (something to do with the central obstruction). You find some examples on Astrobin.
  6. Thanks Olly, much appreciated, and Happy Better Year!
  7. Yes, faint it is so the extra time brought out a bit more colour and reduced the noise. I think 4 hours will have to be enough for this one.
  8. Good question. I will have ASI2600MC on both scopes so my first thought is to do RGB on one and dual band (Ha Oiii) on the other on the same target. Many options on a clear night.....
  9. A stunning image! Missed this until now - your new Epsilon really performs Richard! (and your processing fingers of course)
  10. Thanks a lot Geordie and Happy Better Year! PS. I will soon have a double RASA rig
  11. First data of the year! So last night I had a few clear hours before the moon came up so I could add significntly more data to this collection of rarely imaged dark nebulosity for which I got a few minutes on Xmas day (previously posted). You can find an annotaded verson in my previous Astrobin post: https://www.astrobin.com/v6ttsa/C/ Gear etc: RASA 8 with ASI2600MC (gain 100, -15°C, no filter) on iOptron CEM70. 49 x 5 min, so totally 4.1 hours stacked in PI and processed mainly in PS.
  12. Steve, I got to love the RASA8 & ASI2600MC so much that I may have gone over the top on new years eve and now I have a second RASA 8 and ASI2600MC on their way from TS (they suddenly had both in stock) - so a dual RASA rig very soon!
  13. My last image from 2020 was taken on Xmas day. The moon was up and I knew I only had a few hours before clouds would move in and I had to aim at something rather bright. So the target became the often imaged NGC 7822 which also contains Sh2-171 at the bottom half of the image, and in the upper right quadrant of the image the open star cluster NGC7762 can be seen. There is apparently also a star cluster above it - don't know its name or number. Taken with the RASA 8 and ASI2600MC with an IDAS NBX dual band filter (Ha & Oiii). Gain 100, -15°C. Managed to catch 4.2 hours. It has been cloudy ever since, but today I saw the sun again and a clear night has been promised
  14. Thanks! I did not want to spread salt in the Brexit wounds - just wanted people to see this amazing video😉
  15. Nice to hear that it was not part of the Brexit!
  16. I cannot imagine NASA would be this creative! Is the UK still a member?
  17. Great. I just posted an image of the type of halo I have had on Adams thread. Only affects bright red stars. Fortunately I also bought my filter from FLO🙂
  18. It now struck me that I have seen diffuse halo rings around bright red stars with the NBX filter. They were easily fixed in PS so I forgot about them but they are probably what Hutech talks about. The image is a crop of a small corner area and I had a bit of tilt to deal with as can be seen in the stars.
  19. I assume it is mainly a problem when you want to get a filter into the lightpath.
  20. Oh dear, with that much probably unneccesary void between the front and the sensor you need a tomatobro to make a very dedicated adapter.
  21. What is the sensor distance of the 268c? I assume they made the adapter for the ASI OSC cameras (like 2600) with 17.5 mm sensor distance. Good thing is that the RASA 8 seems to be gaining in popularity so adapters keep popping up for us that do not have a brother with a mechanical shop😉.
  22. Found this option for attaching an NBX filter (seems to be unmounted) to a RASA 8: https://digiborg.wordpress.com/2020/09/21/idas-nbx-filter-with-rasa-8/
  23. Found this option for attaching an NBX filter (seems to be unmounted) to a RASA 8: https://digiborg.wordpress.com/2020/09/21/idas-nbx-filter-with-rasa-8/
  24. Great info! I think I have seen halos that I could take care of in processing but then I have not had majors stars in my images. Have to take a closer look.
