  1. Very impressed! I have never tried solar imaging. Did you know it was coming or were you just lucky?
  2. Yes, here it is for the record (110 x 2 min with RASA 8 and ASI2600MC). It is the fuzzie top left:
  3. Thanks a lot Alan! Once in a while I submit an image to their gallery (and they have taken it more often than not), so that is what I did also with this one. Somehow they decided in this case to use it in the front section. You find the instructions on how to submit in their gallery (just an email with an attached image).
  4. Croman's talk on TAIC is well worth watching. He explains how deconvolution works and at the end he discloses what the coming version can do:
  5. I heard Russ Croman on TAIC recently telling that a new version of BlurXT is around the corner (AI 3.0) and it is even better at fixing corner stars.
  6. Excellent! The colour and fine detail are just right.
  7. Oh, wow Alan, this is the clearest demonstration I have seen of how star removal have changed image processing! Now we can finally get behind the stars and see what is out there!
  8. Sorry guys! But assuming you are correct, then if everyone on the planet got a photon sucking RASA then climate change would be immediately fixed. Someone should tell Celestron to speed up their production and get governmental support!
  9. I payed 450 GBP for the used Hyperstar so I promise not to be too fussy. And with the upcoming new version (AI 3) of Blur XT bad corner stars may be a thing of the past.....
  10. Thanks a lot and Yes Steve, I had been a bit curious about the RASA for a while. I was thrilled by the concept although I had not seen any great reviews about it. But then when someone was selling one for about half the price I thought why not give it a try. The concept had a slightly bad reputation from the Hyperstars that were reputed to be hopeless to collimate. But guess what! I now just bought a Hyperstar for my Edge 11", a scope I mostly have had tucked away and only used occasionally. I bought this used Hyperstar on ebay for 1/3 of the new price. It is the newest version 4, so 540 mm FL and 35 mm image circle with tighter stars than previous versions. It will for sure not be replacing my dual RASA rig, but it will be in the obsy next to it that now houses my 14" Meade ACF (which in any case rarely get enough good seeing). My hope is of course it will actually be much better than its reputation. Collimating it will be an adventure, but maybe I will manage it so stay tuned......
  11. I have been slightly tempted by solar imaging but decided that getting a break from imaging and enjoy the summer is actually quite nice😎
  12. A beautiful wide field image Chris!
  13. Really nice and dusty with exceptional star halo control! I cannot help comparing it to the Telescope Live data from Chile I once processed (https://www.astrobin.com/uu0qqb/C/). They used a Nikon 200mm f/2, and clearly RASA 8 beats it although that Nikon lens is three times the price!
  14. Thanks Dave! It will be interesting to see what they say about it. I am slightly annoyed by the slow postal service between the UK and the EU.....
  15. Thanks Steve! Did not know this. I thought it would be somewhere in the gallery. I am still waiting for my issue to arrive - seeing is believing😅
  16. Thanks a lot Ian! Waiting eagerly for the issue to reach my mailbox here in Sweden.
  17. With my CMOS cameras I ususally get at least 100 subs in a night and using Linear Fit Clipping in PI I never see any satellite trails in the final stacked image even after extreme stretching.
  18. Yes, I noticed that BlurXT in this case caused these worm-like artifacts so I gave up on using it on this data, or rather I think I added about 25% of it. But then I used the default settings. Maybe playing with the sliders would give a better result.
  19. Sorry for hijacking the post, but you got me into it Steve, and here is my short process of the data using the novel XT methods.
  20. Steve, I am that one person. The last one is the best and better than the old version in my opinion! Unfortunately for me, I now realized that I also submitted an entry to that IKI competition, and when I look at it I can see the need for improvements, using new XTerminator tools......
  21. I also have Mesu mounts but never seen this, but I have them on concrete pillars attached to half a tonne of concrete in the ground and isolated from the obsies. There is a dedicated Mesu thread here on SGL, and you may consider posting your problem there.
  22. I think the original one is still the best. In the third version you lost the colour and brightness of the core, making it a bit flat. Keep working on it Steve👍
