  1. Not as good last night but quite a striking new look for Venus.
  2. At least with Venus even if seeing is less good you still get a different look. A Brazil nut came to mind when I first saw the live view last night. 🙂
  3. Thanks again Pete. I was going to try video derotation to fix the field rotation but it appears that winjupos does not have video derotation for Venus.
  4. Thanks Pete! It's nice to have such good conditions to try out a new camera.
  5. Look forward to seeing your latest shots! I had to miss last night but will be trying for rest of week.
  6. Thanks Pete! Best sustained conditions I've ever experienced. Looks like weather is breaking at weekend so I'll be trying every night until then 🙂
  7. Cheers Neil! You've always been the inspiration. Encouraging me to try Venus and get a UV filter. 🙂 I've edited the post replacing the false colour image with a colour balanced version.
  8. Fabulous images Kostas! Love your colour balance, nice and clean!
  9. Cheers Kostas! Look forward to seeing yours. This is what we dream about!
  10. The great conditions continue! Quick process from last night. 10" Dob with QHY462 mono & bessel U for UV. QHY585c for OSC. 19.34 UT. 35 degrees elev. False colour:
  11. I've done a quick clone touch up on the artifact line. Only took a few secs. It seems if there is a gap over 40 mins between UV and OSC shots the winjupos produces a seam I'm assuming caused by field rotation.
  12. Thanks Kostas & Neil! I've put up the colour image. As you can see no line on that either. Also tweaked the colour balance on false colour to take off the blue. Not easy when its in daylight. Yep, conditions are what you dream about at the moment. Make hay while the sun shines as they say! Ok, I know whats causing the line. Too much time between UV and colour images in winjupos. . One hour. Tried a later UV and theres no line.
  13. Super seeing again last night. Super QHY462 mono cam too! The artifact on the false colour image is doing my nut! Its not ana alignment point line. I've tried different images combined and its still there. Seems to be something winjupos derot of rgb is doing but why I don't know!
  14. Never known it clear and stable for such a long period here. Hopefully your technical issues don't crop up when things get serious but I can still imagine the frustration at that time in the morning 🙂
  15. Crystal clear here in the west. Seems the east end boys are getting some of the fluffy stuff 😎
  16. That looks very nice. Gives you a bit more elbow room with processing if there's less noise to deal with. I would imagine it would make focusing easier with less noise on screen?
  17. I've not heard of Pipp fixing field rotation. I did try it on a solar sequence a few weeks ago and it had no effect on the field rotation. At 50 degrees you're getting a fair bit of field rotation. The better data might show some benefit from derotation.
  18. There's a lot of skill involved in your imaging before you've even started processing that's for sure. I was thinking, considering you are shooting earlier in the day at 50+ degrees have you considered video derotation for the field rotation?
  19. Plenty of detail none the less. Congratulations on your ZWO award Kostas 👏 Been very busy here all week hopefully get another crack at Venus this weekend.
  20. Thanks Neil. Basically I used the same wavelets as I would on Jupiter or Mars. Fine gaussian rather than the sledgehammer dyadic. I was having to use a Laser cannon on the noise with the old cam lol
  21. A couple more from the smaller sampled runs. Minimal processing, just a touch of contrast after registax. I must give Bernard at Modern Astronomy a special thanks for the QHY462 mono.
  22. I imagine fast frame rates are your main priority considering you don't have tracking Kostas. Its easy to forget that when seeing the quality of your images. I'm not keen on daylight as my shroud is only a camping mat so the strut ends are still open to the daylight. I believe you are the odd man out regarding the UV filters. I have the bessel U the same as Neil. Once again you are performing miracles with a bargain filter. 😉
  23. From what Christophe pellier has been saying it has no rivals in the UV stakes.
  24. Interesting to compare. The fps was actually 65fps for the over sampled run and 81 for the smaller undersampled captures I took. Looks like the goldielocks zone is in the middle. The nose piece I screwed on so i could remove the cover glass and attached the UV filter threw off my fl from the 585c. These are the 2 sizes straight out of registax and their capture details. The f ratio quoted by FC is not correct. 2023-05-29-1946_3-SJG-L-Ven.txt 2023-05-29-2001_2-SJG-L-Ven.txt
