Yeah, I don't get it sometimes. C11 seems to always give me nice images of moon with average seeing no issues using barlow or image during daylight. Planets a different story, seeing needs to be great. One of reasons I picked up the 178mm, on paper with C-11 it meets planetary critical sampling without use of barlow.
Its all seeing dependant esp with the planets being so low.
I tried the 200mm SCT the other day and looked at Jove with eyepeice and packed away 30 mins later as it was boiling away like mad.
The jet stream has not been helpfcul this side of the pond either.

Thanks
Did you get a decent image?
Despite what I said in a previous post I might just try the C11 agasin.

nice image Steve, with it being so low you have done well and the spot to boot. charl.
Thanks Charl.
I reckon its needs to be a few degs higher for the larger scopes to be any good round here.

A good effort, especially considering elevation & aperture Steve! Nicely processed also!
Thanks, I am getting up courage to try Winjupos with the 30 or so video runs I did that night.

Thanks Pete this is the 3rd of 4th run through I have done .
The higher % of frames just did not produce an image woth trying to process.
-
Thanks Pete.
I did have a go with it a few years ago but it defeated me last time.
Thats for the links .

Can anybody point me in the dirrection of a guide tutorial for Win Jupos please.

Oh and another plus it is much quieter than the Meade coffee grinder LX200 mount.
-
I deforked an LX200 8".
The scope itself is quite light and makes a good match with the EQ6

I was also a bit on the cool side.
Although my weather station said it was 21ºC outsde I thik it was lying.
Feet have just about thawed out.

A lot of your (and my) problems are due the low elevation of Jupiter & saturn.
Also the seeing has not been very good tonight.
-
Certainly more than I saw.
-
Just spotted them as well.
Cant see them being a problem for visual but as they spread out they could ruin a few subs.
Counted 52 of them with the binos.

How do the linear subs look before stretching? I did use short subs for the core on this target, myself, but they were more of a help than an absolute essential. You might already have more core data than appears here. Just a thought, because you can use a soft stretch of the original data in the same way that you can use short subs.
Olly
Olly thanks for the idea but the subs are too saturated for the core.
But I have located some shorter subs in another folder.

Take your drink of choice and go sit out and enjoy the quiet.

I will have a try

Had a squint through the scope this morning and didn't bother imaging, faint proms on both rims and a small bright spot on the East side maybe, couldn't swear to it, can't see it on your image so probably wishful thinking
Dave
Thanks Dave.
I have not bothered today as fighting the fluffy things for a near blank disc is too much like work.
