    Many thanks

I collect 2 sets of data one for the disc and up the gan to get the proms.

    I stack in AS3.

The disc is sharpened in imppg .

    Then into PS

Open your best disc and a close in time prom image

I do any cosmetics like clone stamp to remove any dust bunnies, stretching and final sharpening of the disc

Also I usually drop the gamma a using

    image—adjustments- exposure

    to about 0.85 ish

To the prom image I do a stretch in levels to bring up the proms (if need be ) and drop the black point to get a good background

    Back to the surface disc

using  the magic  wand tool click the background  (with a tolerance of between 20 and 50 in my case) this should give the “marching ants” round the edge but crop the proms if any are showing)

    select – inverse

select-modiy-smooth (I use 10 but yours will vary)

select- modify-contract (I use 2 to bring the ants just onto the disc)

copy  and paste onto the prom disc (ctrl C thenC trl V)

use the move tool on the cropped surface disc to align with the prom image disc

    then use

    edit –free transform

to resize the surce disc  to fit the prom disc (I usually do it at “fit to screen” then zoom in to tidy it up)when happy with that click the “tick” in tool bar just above the image

flatten the layer and crop to tidy the edges and centre you image

    save as a mono

    image –mode- RGB

I then use a saved curve  to colour the image

Cool disk, how do you add prom image to disk image? I've photoshop but not worked out how. My set up is only single stack 60mm lunt but shows a little of the same feature's.

I will write it out later today if I get my jobs done.

Always worth the practice, you never know when that giant A/R or Prom is going to suddenly appear! 🙂

True but I am not holding my breath.
