  1. Gorgeous, Paul. It's hard to light paint flowing water without blowing out the highlights, but you've controlled it really well. Beautiful scene.
  2. Thanks Lee - I feel very fortunate, and thank you for your kind comments. 👍
  3. Great video. It looked like a cracking display last night - I’ve seen some great footage from Scotland, Denmark and (of course!) Norway.
  4. I have to say that software stack works very well and is within the capabilities of simpletons like me. Thta's disappointing, Paul. I have to say my 14mm has been a joy - fantastic stars throughout, whereas my 24mm is very prone to CA. Quite a lot of lens distortion on the 14m though, and it doesn't like being used in panos!
  5. Absolutely beautiful!! Love it. That’s a location I have on my list for this year. So many possibilities. Love the nebulosity. How did you find the skies there? I know an aurora photographer from that neck of the woods who’s warned me that looking south the lights from the village can be intrusive. But your image looks very clean.
  6. That’s lovely, Paul. Thank you for sharing these; I’m struggling to get out shooting at the moment for various reasons and it’s driving me potty! Your images are a welcome tonic. Can’t wait to get out again.
  7. They are lovely images and fantastic windmills. 👏👏 I agree with other @Zummerzet_Leveller - those star trails are really interesting.
  8. Very kind, Alan. Thank you. Yep, I went out this evening to double check the hasps holding the roof were all attached properly. I’ve also tied the roof framework to the wall framework to hopefully add some extra rigidity. I certainly wasn’t expecting 85mph forecast gusts so early in its life!!
  9. Thanks so much for the feedback. Your build sounds interesting and it sounds like it's passed the weather-proofing test! We've got 80mph winds coming through here tomorrow, so that'll be my first real test! I expect to add insulation in due course too.
  10. Well, after a few months and several challenges, I’ve finally managed to get this (all but) completed. I decided the easiest way to explain the build was via a video. Hope this helps someone!!
  11. That’s a terrific composition, Paul. I love the orientation of the MW at this time of year and the early starts for it are always bracing! As ever your light painting is 👍👍👍. As for it being the first, it certainly is on SGL! I saw a pic of the core from Cornwall by Aaron Jenkin on Twitter yesterday morning too, so I think it might be a joint first across the UK web! 🤣
  12. Thank you once again for organising, Martin and co. These winning images are stunning!! Especially pleased for @Zummerzet_Leveller who has always encouraged my work!! 🏆🏆🏆
  13. I’ve also heard that about dslrs. All I know is that when I stretch a lot without them I have weird primary coloured streaks in my image, going across a few pixels each, that take quite a while to get rid of afterwards! No idea what it is, but dark frames seem mostly to get rid of them.
  14. I know what you mean about stretching pulling out some horribleness!! Have you tried darks and flats? I know it sounds like a massive faff, but it does allow that little bit more to be pulled out of the data. The gradient plug-in tools in Photoshop really are quite special! I’ve tried Gradient Xterminator and AstroFlatPro - both just do things that can only be explained by black magic!! 🤣🤣
  15. Great image, that. The 6D and 85mm Samyang fit Orion in really nicely. Out of interest, did you find you have much CA with the Samyang? Mine seemed to struggle a lot with fringing - can all be processed out but a little annoying! What challenges have you been having with the 6D? We have very similar setups so keen to hear. I’ve not taken mine to the limit on deep sky yet. As you know, I love it for Astro landscapes.
  16. That’s fantastic! Super bit of artwork and well worth the effort put in!
  17. Ha ha! Fantastic, Paul - I think it works really well. The natural starglow is superb - always the best way to get the effect, it’s just a shame it can’t be switched on and off! Incredibly envious of your locations. Might have to make a trip next time we’re up with my folks across the border in Co Durham.
  18. Love it, Paul. That bridge does cry out for a selfie!!
