You are not making any mistakes but seeing what you should be seeing. You should read this to temper your expectations The honest trust it the moon will always give you lots of detail as it is relevantly close 0.25 million miles) when compared to the solar system planets (mars roughly 250 million miles and jupiter 350 to 600 million miles) and deep space objects which are not measured in miles as they are so distant. You should try viewing Jupiter through your lowest numbered eyepiece, did it not come with a 10mm? And then through this you should see some cloud banding and maybe the great red spot. However even with the 25mm you should have seen the 4 jovian moons, little specs of light usually lined up either side of it or sometimes all to just one side. Have another go but read the thread I posted, it will be well worth it.

Ok so finally split my collection up. The first box is for the refractor and the other the Dob. I will try to replave the LVW with a 8mm radian and also get a 7mm delite but there is no rush with either. The dob box is complete save a space for the TV Dioptrx soon to arrive.

At long last my Frac and mount are finished and good to go, I had to have the black central post on the tripod custom made as it was way too short, (Thanks again Peter) cracking mount though. Going to give it a whirl on the Moon tomorrow evening, looking forward to it.

I think I am done for now (heard that before) as the Radian's filled a gap that has been troublesome for some time, 10mm & 4mm. the 14mm replaces a Vixen SLV 15 and although it wasn't a priority, the offer was just to good to pass over. Now just need new foam to re-arrange as its a bit higgledy piggledy. EDIT. just realised the X-Cel 9mm isn't in there yet but when I redo the case it will be added.

I have only used my Nagler 26 a few times and not enough to say its fully tested. However I will say I do like it a lot and it is surely a keeper.

Ah you have a 22mm SWA, had one of these for ages now and i simply won't let it go, lovely little eyepiece for the price Lee. Incidentally where'd you get the Omegon eyepieces from and how do you find them?

does the CC push the native focal point in or out from the start? my nikon, which has the nearest focal point has around 20mm of additional inward travel when focused but my radian 5 actually requires you to pull it up it's barrel 5mm. Are any of the below likely to cause issue. i do have a 1.25" ext tube to deal with lack of outward but inward would be a problem. steve

Just wondering from anyone who has owned both or just who knows the difference between the type I and type II. I note from the televue website that the type II has a 1.15 barlow effect to push out the focus but cannot find any info on the type I ref this. Is the focus push out on the type one and two the same. which gives the better control on coma. One would assume its the II. I am not rushng out to buy one (heard this before) but one never knows. I recently made a double star list of many of the popular ones and some of the ones you listed above. Now my set up is back u;p and running I am hoping to do a little more double hunting especially the coloured ones. Something quite amazing to seeing the multi coloured stars in one view. I will compare my list to yours above later. Good result though

I have to say I think the standard of eyepieces just gets better and better but also the manufacturers do a great job of getting us to recycle our EP cases time and again. In the 4 years since I started the number of new designs and offerings from the provides has been amazing notably from TV but also there have been new Celestron, Baader and Vixen eyepiece designs that have also set a marker down, although many others have chipped in also especially with the extra and ultra wide eyepieces now seeing great favour amongst some of us. That said, we all do a great job of talking ourselves into buying the new ones but that to me is all part of the hobby.

Michael. Re the eye relief. I have an old set of glasses only slightly off prescription but I use them solely for the Nikon as they sit very flush to the eye socket giving me maybe 2 or 3 mm of extra ER. So when using the Nikon is in the focuser it really does help in giving you that falling in feeling. FWIW I recently had a new set of glasses made up for viewing only to complement that pair, the difference is they are vari-focal as I need the near to viewing for reading charts etc. They too give me a little extra ER (not as much as the others, maybe 2mm at most) but also the centre has been lowered by a couple of millimetre to give me a slightly larger viewing area in the upper lens.
