1. Another glorious blue start to the day ...
2. As far as I know APT is for still camera control , SharpCap is what you want for 'video' cameras (or possibly FireCapture)
3. Blue patches here today but the seeing was rank , shot 720 , stacked 74.
4. Just had a play with the new version of JHelioviewer , used to be good , now it's even better ...
5. I think it's still growing , but it's a job to tell from this morning's dismal effort ... 🤣
6. "Inspired" by this day eight years ago I felt compelled to have a go this morning despite the blanket of cloud ... 🤣 My selection of "stackable" frames ..... And the result ... lol
7. Not a cloud to be seen and pretty decent seeing , great start to the Bank Holiday weekend ... Kit as always , Baader ND3.8 film on the Tal 100RS then an OIII filter on the front of the 1.8x Barlow (customised down from 2x to better fill the sensor) attached to a Canon EOS1000D. 500 frames shot , 132 stacked.
8. Been imaging all week but no internet until lunchtime today so to save messing about here's a week's worth in one hit ... all as jpegs to save clogging things up too much ... full res all on my Astrobin gallery here ... https://www.astrobin.com/users/steveward53/ ... Was nice to catch the whole week's worth of action , but the 27th and 28th were dreadful for both seeing and clouds hence the dreadful images ..... !
9. Had to take two bites at it due to the seeing .... got there in the end.
10. One extreme to the other ... shot 360 frames before the clouds rolled over , stacked 170 ... ! Full discs then some trimmed and drizzled just because ... would have pointed the big Mak180 at it if the clouds hadn't arrived so soon ...
11. Foul conditions , milky sky , wibbly-wobbly disc ... at times I could lose the big spots completely on screen !! Shot 1000 frames , selected 48 of the "better" ones ... 😄
12. Hi Stu , They're just visible now but weren't at 08:00 , can't be bothered to set up again today so hoping it's clearish tomorrow.
13. Not a lot to look at today , but it's a bank holiday weekend so what else is there to do ... ? No sign of the approaching 'big 'uns' yet so here's hoping for a bi of blue tomorrow.
14. Still blue , still pointing glass ... Big 'uns ... https://www.astrobin.com/users/steveward53/
15. Still messin' around with it .... 😆 Full size versions over on Astrobin ... https://www.astrobin.com/users/steveward53/
16. Still playing with the recipe ... Full pics here ... https://www.astrobin.com/users/steveward53/
17. EDITED VERSION SHOWING CORECT IMAGES .... LOL Once you start you just can't leave it alone ... 🤣 Awful seeing here but found a number of frames to play with , still experimenting though ... ! Full size versions in my Astrobin gallery ... click on thumbnail to get there , or see the lot here ...https://www.astrobin.com/users/steveward53
18. Afternoon all , after a pretty torrid few months I decided that a day outside in the sun was just what I needed. Trying to piece together the rig from umpteen boxes after moving house was an interesting exercise to say the least .... and as for trying to remember my processing 'recipe' after about five years away from solar imaging ..... ! Anyway , thats enough drivel , here are the efforts that I ended up with after a long slog ... Shan't be going on another daily crusade just yet ...
19. Longer leads and sit in the shade , simple really ...
20. Nicely caught sir ... I might well dust down the Tal and point it in the general direction if the squally showers desist any time soon . Might need a serious refresher course regarding processing though ... if I actually remember how the mount and camera works ... lol.
21. I soon worked out however , that the more comfortable option was long active USB leads and hand controller lead extensions that let me sit comfortably in the shade/indoors out of the full force of the target.
