  1. I found a file from September 20th last year I hadn't processed. It's the region around the star Sadr in Cygnus with the Crescent nebula. Taken in Hydrogen Alpha 41 x 5 min exposures (3hrs 25.mins) Samyang 135mm @f2.4 Atik One-6 camera, Baader 7nm HA filter. Pretty much as wide a field as I can get. #atikcameras #samyang135
  2. they are stunning images, would love to get 147
  3. It's amazing just how large some of these objects are. I think the camera has done well for only 2 hrs, wonder how much better it would be with another hour or two.
  4. Thanks that lens is a little gem. The cone has a lot of nebulosity round it
  5. Thanks It was a good start but cloudy since
  6. That was my thinking exactly mark, the weather is the main reason. These newer osc cameras and dual band filters have really come on and opened things up. I still have my mono ccd, it's still better, but one clear night in a month doesn't complete an image.
  7. The weather has started off a but crap this year. Thus week is no better for me.
  8. Thankyou, that was my first good night with the camera Yes agree that more time is needed but you're off to a running start. Been a very bad start to the year, got to grab a clear night when you can.
  9. The Flaming star nebula in Auriga 1500 light years from us. Nearly didn't process this as I didn't think there was enough data, glad I looked again. Taken 9-01-21 with my ZWO 533mc Samyang 135mm @f2.8 Optolong L-enhance filter 24x 5 mins = 2 hrs exposure time. No calibration frames
  10. Thanks quite enjoying the set up. For a first light with not a lot of data and no calibration frames I'm pleased. I've just got 97 x 180 seconds on M45 tonight so hoping that will come to something
  11. First light this week for the Samyang on a new ZWO533, misty night but had to get out there.
  12. OOps calendar was still in November!!
  13. I borrowed a solar wedge to try out today, quite surprised at the detail that's through in a 80mm scope. Only had a green filter to hand.
  14. I found f5.6 right when I had that lens
  15. I have all those filters in a manual wheel , pretty handy for getting the best one for the night
  16. Another go with the Samyang 135 on my Fuji Xt2 with an Altair triband filter 22 x 4 mins @ f2.4 iso 2000
  17. For various reasons I've not been able to compare the 2 scopes. I hope to get set up for Mars and I suspect aperture will win there
  18. very nice, i've just done the same with a samyang 135, good to see a comparison
  19. framing was pure luck as the ccd body was bolted down, just received a lens collar so hopefully will get rotation. Hope you get good results with the redcat, what a nice loan.
  20. cheers Dave, I'd been on the fence for ages about this lens, how much use would it get for the price but i'm really pleased with it and will probably use it more than I first thought. Stepdown rings have been suggested to get rid of the star spikes, I don't find them too obtrusive but it's an option. Not sure what size ring to knock it down half or 1 stop.
  21. I finally worked out how to get this attached to my Atik One-6. The main issue is back focus. I bought a ZWO canon/M42 adaptor and had to take some of the thread off in the lathe. This still didn't quite reach focus and a friend told me about the infinity stop adjustment. I can now get to focus, yey, although I will buy one the the bayonet replacement to m48 when FLO have them in stock as I think this will make a more rigid connection. Processing is what I could remember and this is the result of 14x10 mins HA @F2.8 I'm happy with this and that the lens is good
  22. Thank you. I'm pleased with the star shapes and that it gives a decent image at f2, not many lenses are good wide open. Might try f2.8 and will do calibration frames next but pleased what an unmodded camera has picked up. I was on the fence for ages but glad i bought one
  23. Agree, it was more of a test of flatness of field.
