  1. I changed the focus from 531 to 720. I have no idea how much that is in microns but I reduced star size from around 5-6px down to about 1px using manual remote control. I guess my eye/brain combo is better than the autofocus AI...
  2. I think the clear sky should be heading your way Dave. Focus was a bit out here - I adjusted it and have stars just over a pixel now.
  3. 60s. I think the focus could be better though.
  4. Have Polaris in view but but the contrast is poor.
  5. Hope you feel up to astronomy Dave 😀
  6. Sky seems clear now so I'm off out to open the roof.
  7. I haven't got a headache - I thought you had the headache. If you haven't I don't know where it is!! 🤣
  8. Been out to the observatory and set up ready for imaging but with dark clouds about decided to have the roof closed for now.
  9. Ah well, I didn't expect to get 100x5m subs - that was just a spot of daftness. I knew I had to close up before going to bed as rain was forecast - and we got it! Astro darkness is now 4-5 hours.
  10. Stopped raining here and yes, CO still showing several hours of green.
  11. It depends on the weight of your flap but it looks like you will have a lot of stress on those parts. I suspect these will need to be steel, welded up but without all the information I can't say. Otherwise, it looks viable to me.
  12. BBC News forecast rain this afternoon, clearing up and producing a fine night with clear skies. That looks unlikely ATM with steady moderate rain but CO agrees, so we shall see!!
  13. Here is an circuit that uses the V/A digital meter for the battery voltage and total current load. The PSU has an ammeter that shows the supply current (load plus charging current), otherwise I would have liked a centre zero ammeter for the battery to show charge/discharge current. As long as the battery and PSU negative are boxed away from any other wiring, I think it should be pretty safe.
  14. Yes, that's why my present design uses separate voltmeter and ammeter - the problem is avoided in the ammeter by using a separate supply for the logic.
  15. It would be nice to have a single digital meter for the main battery V/A display but these devices measure the current in the negative rail so the battery negative cannot be connected to observatory ground line.
  16. Just been out to the observatory to look at the best place for the Power Distribution Box and ROR Control and it would appear that the best place for the PDB is on the south wall of the warm room at the back of the bench. Best place for the ROR Control box is on the partition wall near the doorway at the top. Two separate boxes then.
  17. I think I may combine the box for power distribution and ROR control. No point in having two boxes with wires between when they're so close together.
