  1. That's it - picture gone except for the brightest stars.
  2. Just checked the sky and there's another bank of cloud heading this way. When that gets here I shall pack up. I could do with sorting out my all sky camera - save me going outside to see the sky but top priority is the observatory power distribution box and ROR motorisation.
  3. Looks like I could do with more cooling for SII subs. Winter should sort that out. I guess I could augment the fan on the ASI1600MM-Cool and increase the airflow or even cool the air going in. I can get -35°C or even -40°C in the winter. Makes quite a difference.
  4. Still clear here but don't know how long for.
  5. Turned up the cooling by setting temperature to -30°C which it's just maintaining. This is better.
  6. SII doesn't seem as good as last night. This is a 3 minute exposure at maximum gain and temp of -20C. Stretched in GIMP.
  7. CO is no longer showing clear sky for tomorrow night. I might just set up for some SII subs but I won't be having another late night.
  8. The sky has cleared again but I think I'm too tired to do any messing about tonight.
  9. A great big bank of black cloud has come over from the west and about to obscure the sky here so I have closed the roof and given up for tonight.
  10. Doesn't like that USB port - I'll put it back!
  11. All connections seemed fine but I've plugged the mount into another USB port. See if that works. The mount had moved.
  12. It might do. But now I seem to have another problem. Ran Ekos and all devices connected. Then tried the solve and slew to object and mount reported connection failure.
  13. I guess it's to do with gravity acting along the axis with Alt-Az whereas it acts at an angle to the RA axis with an Equatorial mount.
  14. I need to get more familiar with KStars/Ekos. I reckon there should be a way of getting the mount to slew the other way. Maybe invert the reference image.
  15. HAH!!! Been out to the observatory with the W7 laptop and tested the mount with imaging rig. Found the problem - needs a meridian flip to give enough mount movement!! Actually, the meridian flip could be done before starting with a starting time of 10pm. If the rig had started on the other side there wouldn't have been a problem.
  16. Why use an Alt-Az mount and then have to de-rotate? What's wrong with an Eq mount? What am I missing here?
  17. Well, I intend to make the best possible use of them.
  18. OH!!! That's not good news! Do you know what the problem was?
  19. Just had a look on FLO. Baader have filters almost as narrow as Astrodon and much cheaper - 3.5nm, 4.5nm, 4.5nm. ZWO do a set of 7nm filters at under £400. I have Astrodon Ha and SII in 5nm bandwidth. I guess I could get a Baader OIII to give me an effective 5nm set. that would cost around £300.
