Hi Dan,
I use gain 11 & offset 132, which is the optimum for my ccd camera. I can reduce the stars using various techniques. I was just pointing out that the more imaging time you spend on certain subjects tends to increase the star population.
Thanks anyway

Mu Pulsar observatory sits sandwiched between a 6" slab of concrete and a damp proof membrane. The dome base is sealed both inside and outside to the membrane/concrete. I have not lined the inside, but have a dehumidifier coupled to a humidistat set at 60%. I have never had condensation, only partial during imaging sessions. The dehumidifier is never overworked and I live aside a 7 acre lake.

Hi Steve, i used SNR down to 70% to reduce the green but tbh the blue imo is quite a turquoise look so left it there, but yes maybe down to 60 wouldn't hurt. Starnet ++ is fantastic for stars and can use as a mask as well, so mask the stars and pop the colour in the nebula with messing with star colour. thanks again
Dan, did you use Starnet++ to reduce the stars in your image?

Great image, really well framed and processed.

That's a wonderful rendition of the Wizard Nebula. Well imaged & nicely processed.

Very nice image Dan. Try using Pixinsight's SCNR to convert the green into a nice blue. I've also been imaging NGC6992 and have collected over 10hrs of rgb data. I combined the data and was shocked at the amount of stars in the image. The nebulosity was difficult to see. I'll need to reduce the amount of stars to bring out the main subject

Hi Maarten
The image shown appears to be ok. This is what I would expect from a bias frame. The black band on the right hand side is overscan & doesn't affect the image. This can be turned off in the ascom driver.

If you want the 'Rolls Royce' of lightweight drive chains for the shutter, this is the place to get them but be sure that your sprocket drive matches the pitch.
Thanks Steve, I'll certainly look into the Reynolds PC chain. Btw I used to visit Reynolds often when I was a young manufacturing Engineer at the Raleigh Cycle Company, many years ago.

This any good? I guess it needs to fit your existing sprocket drive?
https://www.motionco.co.uk/chain-sprockets-chain-c-21_23.htmlThanks for the linh. Yep this is the type I'm after, unfortunately it's too delicate for my shutter. It seems it only rated to 2lbsf. More umph needed

Does anyone know of a source in which to purchase a length of nylon shutter drive chain. It is similar in design to standard bicycle chain and is used in some observatory suppliers.

Thanks Martin, she rotates really freely when the motor is disengaged, that was the first thing I checked when we lifted the lid on, Steve hinted that perhaps that I needed to increase the tension, so I'll have a look if I can tomorrow.
Thanks for the input.
Hi John,
Just checked your video footage, and you need to increase the pressure of the gear onto the drive belt. It is amazing how much it flexes. Looking really great though.....Nearly there 👍
