My thoughts are I’m using my laptop and I agree that the mobile is possibly the way forward but I also like a handset and agree about the buttons bosun21- be into know if anyone has had any issues using the phone app? -
That’s explained it cheers mate 👍🏼

Sorry that wasn’t my question apologies I’m asking if the fitting was correct in adding the top bolt separately then connecting to the extension? Seems a strange was to to do it?

Hi need some advice please , I’ve just bought the 3/8 steel tripod to fix my Azi GTI mount on it and I’m wondering if I’ve connected this correctly? the top bolt on the tripod appears to connect to the mount separately then it’s fixed to the top of the extension column is that right ?

The startravel is F/5 so faster is it not ? also quick question..Is an Asiair device compatible with the AzI GTI for EAA ? Or is it not needed at all ?
-
Yes I bought one with the mount head ready for the steel tripod
-
I’ve opted for the AZI GTI mount and bought it separately from the stick tripod so I can use it with a steel tripod instead

I’m also considering a Sky-Watcher EQ3 PRO Go-To Astronomy Mount & Tripod or the SW azi GTI mount and tripod - which would be the better buy - can’t go for anything else tbh due to budget
-
Thanks folks

I’m considering a Startravel 102 for EEA although the Evo 102 has been recommended- which would be the better option on the azi GTI

It’s ok Jim I’ll step in 👍🏼 I think the point is that it was a post to be helpful perhaps however the point has been missed as perhaps not the arena for it maybe ? Robert is a local legend in our neck of the woods and is a much respected astronomer who has decided to launch an on line resource which hopefully as time goes on will be a good watch for enthusiasts, I for one learnt everything I know locally from Robert over the last 10 years or so and he’s extremely knowledgable. -
Azi gti tripod good enough for EAA?
Beardy30 replied to Astro74's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
I would say the mount is the most important but yea I agree stability is important- try it and see, you may find it’s ok for now -

Azi gti tripod good enough for EAA?
Beardy30 replied to Astro74's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
Hi, yes the tripod would be fine for EAA as it’s the same essentially as visual with a cam so providing you don’t exceed approx 80% of its payload capacity you should be fine - I would try it and see how you go and you can always mod up the tripod later 👍🏼 -
Morning everyone I understand the difference between the two mounts above in that the GTE doesn’t include the feeedom find option of the GTI, but looking at the Costs I’m thinking the GTE is more of a bargain- for example the GTI is approx £349 at FLO for the mount and tripod package alone but the GTE also includes the startravel 102. (A fairly decent achro frac for visual) is only £379- a difference of £30. so I’m wondering how useful is the freedom find option and is it really something people find helpful? Be good to know before making the decision as I’m thinking the GTE package is more cost effective if I’m never likely to use freedom find. thanks ☺️

Hi there, I would recommend the Stella 80mm for EAA it’s a beauty well made and great focal, cam wise you should be fine with the 224 certainly for now it will do the job fine it’s a proven camera which is well matched to the frac or a good newt.
