  1. I sold it as I was offered silly money for it - more than I paid so why not ! Plus I was not a fan of the se mount for the 8” as it was as tad wobbly but that just a personal preference. It’s much better suited for the 6”.
  2. I’m not a dob fan tbh - I know there are many that love them but a reflector that needs to have collmination puts me off having jad one in the past plus they are too big to store and I want a quick simple set up , I love the goto set ups as I love the geeky side of the hobby in all the tablets and wireless capabilities it offers - I personally find this a really joy to use as I had it in my 8se set up all just personal choice 👍🏼
  3. I think the 6” isn’t massively better - the Mak is a planet and moon specialist the SCT is a Jack of all trades with no particular specialism imo - I’ve had the 8” SCT previously
  4. I guess it comes down to whether the mount is important to you or not for AP or other imaging use in the future or if the extra “ of apature is worth the DX being your choice - question form me is the 6” SCT really massively better then the 5” Mak to scarifie a better mount ?
  5. Yea I’m curious - I’m guessing the different is the eq capabilities of the azi mount ?? poss more versatile
  6. Does anyone have any experience with the Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 5 App-Enabled Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope and how it might compare to the SW 127 on the AZI GTI mount ?
  7. The 130 was fine it had good views etc but just wasn’t the right system For me as I soon learnt a goto is what I prefer although the mount was very wobbly - the 8se was a super scope and I loved it, I regret selling it tbh - however it’s the 127 Mak on the azi GTI where my next purchase lies I think - reading the positive reviews of it I think it’s the way forward
  8. Also to add I’ve had a 130p and 8se in the past
  9. Hi all im considering buying some new equipment - my main interest is observation with some basic smart phone AP on occasion- im considering a 250p dob goto/ 127 azi GTI Mak or - a refractor which has been suggested to me - which in everyone’s opinion would give me the best set up for dark sky observation-(I’m relevantly experienced to know the cool down issues of Maks and the collmination issue of reflectiors). thanks 😊
  10. Do you feel the AVX would be the better long term buy should the AP bug bite
  11. Hi is there anyone on here who owns the 9.25 Evo, just wondered how this might compare tit he 9.25 AVX - I’m assuming one is better for observation and one for AP but there a good £300 price difference also? any hep would be appreciated
  12. I may opt for the evo but I agree the dob is a lot cheaper - I’m not ruling out AP in future however for an SCT might be better mount wise thanks
  13. Morning all out of interest out of the two above which would people advise would be a better goto system ? I’m considering the 250p as it’s cheaper but understand it’s bigger which is no issue for me however I believe the Celestron goto system is a tad more user friendly - any opinion on which would be the better buy?
  14. Hi - I would be interested to know what peoples views of of the CELESTRON ASTRO FI 6 INCH SCT TELESCOPE vs the SW 127 AZI GTI - obviously it’s a SCT vs a Mak but is the extra 1” of apature worth it bs what I believe to be the superior AZI GTI mount
  15. Hi, with this scope using WiFi for control of the mount how would it cope out in the field away from the house ?
  16. I’m about to buy a Sky-Watcher SkyMax-127 AZ GTi - part from a dew shield is there anything else I need ?
  17. Hello and welcome Steve 👍🏼
  18. Yea full warranty but not sure about starry nights
  19. I’ve been offered an ex display celestron evo 8 “ what do you think is a fair price to pay for it? It’s without its original box but with an updated handset controller- the tube is brand new and unused and the mount an ex display model
