  1. It maybe a chap in Cheshire…..
  2. 4 sessions for me in January, almost 5 but after a cloudless day the clouds rolled at Sunset ! and that seems to happen frequently !!
  3. Congrats @F15Rules, makes total sense 👍
  4. My C9.25 was not stable on the HEQ5 when focussing at high powers for planetary.
  5. My guess is it will be a Tak 100mm or Vixen 115mm refractor……
  6. @ozfactor There are quite a few reports of this. It’s possible that you are seeing the green/yellow flash of a distant small meteorite burning up.
  7. Nice job 👍 I like the Tak finder - as a handle 😱 But needed a RACI
  8. Hello Chris and welcome to SGL. For deep sky and planets the 130PS would be my preference. You may need to add a barlow lens to get high magnifications for the planets. But for a similar price you can get this which is larger but will give much better views…. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/stellalyra-telescopes/stellalyra-8-f6-dobsonian.html
  9. As Astro Systems did in the 80’s and their anti-slip ring also acted as a camera platform and handle…. Scopes designed by people who used them 👍
  10. The weather and Jetstream forcast are both decent for this….. 🤞
  11. I find the detail in cyclops mode is the same in bino mode, but the details are much easier to see in bino mode and my eyes are more relaxed. Great drawings 👍
  12. I think you may have taken that out of context, @mikeDnight did not say he got perfect views at 1000x he said he got a perfect airy disk at 1000x which is dependant on good seeing and collimation. That is easy to achieve by stacking Barlows, I have done it by stacking two x2.2 Celestron Ultimas and a 5mm eyepiece giving x1000 in my FS128. Obviously the views are VERY dim and there is a lot of vibration so it’s not a useful power for normal general observation, I did it once simply because I was curious. But, lets not hijack the OP’s thread 👍
  13. I am another user of many scope types over the last 40 years. The scope that gave me the best views was a 10” Skywatcher Newtonian. The scope I enjoy using the most is a 5” refractor because the views have good detail and are so sharp. Hope that helps
  14. I often wonder why my seeing conditions seem to be poor when others out at the same time have good seeing conditions. I just found this image of the flight corridors across the UK, I marked where I live with a red spot which seems to be a junction for two major flight corridors !! That may explain why my seeing conditions were good during covid lockdown ? I think I need to move….
  15. Oh yes over and over again ! The C8 that replaced it needed collimating but was then excellent 🙂
  16. @JeremyS The issue with SCT’s is optical variability, it sounds like you have a very good one that works as a 9.25” should, perhaps @johnturley’s is not quite as good. I can say with 100% confidence that the C9.25 I owned was the worst telescope I ever looked through - it really was a lemon that had gone rotten ! Stupidly I bought a C8 years later - it was a stunner ! 🙂
  17. You should start your own thread on this so we can watch as you go along with the refurb 👍
  18. I went out to a perfectly clear night on the 18th and the seeing was terrible
