My first Saturn

Not just my first Saturn image...my first ever sight of Saturn through a telescope!

Wow! What a sight! I was so entranced I nearly forgot to try for an image!

Well, here it is. Toucam at prime focus. 15 seconds avi at 10 fps. 38 frames stacked out of 150.

I found that I couldn't get decent focus using a x2 barlow. I don't know if it was me or the conditions.

The image was very orange so I used the "auto balance" under thr RGB tab to add some colour.

Any advice on if it is possible to get any detail out of such a small image as this would be appreciated.

Can't help with any advice I'm afraid - can say that it's a great 1st pic though - nine one L48 8)

I'll always remember the first time, it's awesome!

Tips:-

Get more frames - go for 150 seconds rather than 15 seconds if the tracking permits. If it doesn't, use multiple AVIs in Registax.

Resample to get a bigger image in Registax.

Enjoy it - it's only about a billion miles away and you took it's picture - that IS a result.

You got some nice detail and enjoyed yourself at the same time

Keep trying with the barlow, you might hit on one of those "special seeing"

nights which will allow you to get a bigger capture.
