Hi all

After looking at the wounders of space with my 10'' dob for a week now, and finding nebulas, double clusters, globular clusters, galaxys, double stars, and planets, I have been thinking about doing some astrophotography(you mite say I'm a bit hooked) and was thinking about putting my 10'' dob tube on a EQ6 mount can this be done or do I hve to buy a complete new setup.

Thank's all and all the best.

If it's the solid tube dob, then it should be quite straight forward, you just need to get some tube rings for it and remove the altitude bearings.

I have just done the opposite with my new Explorer 300p, and turned it into a dob.

You can leave the bearings in place - the rings should go either side of them. The only time they might get in the way is if you need to slide the tube up or down to balance a heavy eyepiece or camera.

I was thinking about converting my solid tube 12" Meade DOB onto an EQ, but couldnt find any rings big enough online...

Yes, is the short answer!

If the Skyliner tube is the same diameter as the Explorer tube, then the standard Skywatcher rings will be just the job!

IIRC it is :). I mounted my old 10" skyliner using the standard 10" rings.
