to buy or not to buy?....oops to late!!

hello everybody! just got my first scope!. saw it advertised this morning and went for it!!

the guy selling seemed like a decent chap and spent an hour showing me the basics with the scope and mount, he said he'd upgraded his scope and the mount wouldnt take his new scope, a 120mm/1000 refractor.

so i am now the proud owner of a sw startravel 120/600 mounted on a motorised eq3/2, with a couple of eye peices, it has an updated finderscope and polar alignment scope. i paid 170 quid, i hope i have chosen well for an intoductory scope, not planning to upgrade for a good while yet as i plan to spend as much time as poss getting to know the art!! there you have it i'm hooked!!!!!!

Well one advantage with the refractor is that the image back to front, at least the image isn't inverted which can be a pain when your learning to find stuff in the sky. Also nothing like having a bit of a motor to track stuff as it helps when you are trying to get that extra bit of fine focus as its something less to have to do.

Congratulations on the purchase and look forward to reading about what you've managed to see.

Clear skies
