beamish
Carte du Ceil or Stellarium ,...and yes you will need a planetarium S/W
brantuk
Carte du Ciel is one I've heard people use a lot. Also I understand it's possible from Stellarium
lukebl
I'd go for Carte du Ciel. Much more functional and brilliant at controlling the scope through EQMOD. I feel that Stellarium strives to be 'pretty', rather than professional! Nice program, though.

martin_h
I use both - depending on what I'm looking for.If using Stellarium - use Stellariumscope (free download) it makes it a lot easyer to interface
themos
You don't HAVE to use a planetarium program, there is a small program called EQTour that is quite useful for gotos.EQTOUR GOTOS
Bizibilder
Cartes du Ciel - and download the extra star catalogues (But not the HUGE ones!!). It is mush easier to use than Stellarium but not as pretty!
