reasonably priced eyepieces?

Recommended Posts

I was looking at Baader Hyperions, but Tele vue are meant to be better?

T x

Hyperions would work very well in the ED80 and would allow higher power to be reached without the need for a barlow lens as they go as far as 3.5mm - the Tele Vue plossls only go as far as 8mm, but are excellent.

The Baader Genuine Ortho's mentioned by sengoksa are very fine eyepieces as well.

Depends what you are looking for, and at, really - the Hyperions offer a wider field of view and more eye relief while the Tele Vue plossls and Baader Ortho's are a little sharper.

You could get a mix - a Hyperion 24mm for low power, wide field, a couple of TV plossls for mid power and a Couple of Baader Ortho's for higher powers - oops I seem to have exceeded your budget a little there :(

TV plossl's are good but only go down to 8mm, so you will either have to mix eyepieces and so lose any parfocal ability or aim at a set that has a wider range.

Think that Modern Astronomy do a range of TS Planetary's which have a fair selection, also Rother Valley and GreenWitch do the Antares WA series that go down to 4.3mm (possibly smaller).

It all depends on how many you want and whether you want to stick to one make/range.
