2010 - The Year I Went "Wow"

Just thought I would share a few things that made me go "wow" and really fired up my new passion in the tail end of 2010.

1. Seeing the beautiful blue/white stars of The Pleiades through my bins.

2. Really looking closely at our moon and seeing craters and shadows.

3. Finding The Andromeda Galaxy for the first time and, though it's just a smudge through bins, realising that it is over 2 million light years away. The light we are seeing now, set off then!

4. Teaching myself some basics so that I can now confidently find Polaris, Orion, Taurus, The Summer Triangle, The Great Bear, Gemini, Cassiopeia, Pegasus and Auriga among others.

5. Professor Brian Cox and his superb Wonders of the Solar System. He should be very proud of what he has acheived.

6. Seeing Jupiter and it's changing moons in the Autumn/Winter sky.

Can't wait for more "wow" moments in 2011.

Happy New Year to all at SGL and thanks for your help and support so far.

Jimmy.
