Cable release for Canon 1000d

What cable release do I need for mt new Canon 1000d.

Is this one any good

I hope it's okay because I ordered exactly that to go with my new 1000D a few days ago. Hasn't arrived yet, but it was mentioned in another thread as an example of the sort of thing we need.

It's not the same as the one I have for my 450d, but it appears to be only in looks... the functions should be the same and it works a treat.

That's the one I bought (as far as I can see) and it works a treat with the 1000D.

Timer remote arrived today and works a treat. Looking forward to trying it out in anger when the 2 weeks of cloud (for a new scope and camera) are over.

they are a great idea,so simple to select eg 20 x 30s exposures

Is there any great need to set an interval (pause) between subs? I could imagine this would allow any heat to dissipate to help keep noise down. e.g. 90sec sub - 30sec interval - 90sec sub...etc.

i was thinking more of poor alignment as well

I only give 4sec interval between subs on my 1000D - just time to make sure that RAW + JPEG have saved etc (2 secs is probably long enough!!). Never noticed any need to allow time for anything else.
