Hi folks,

I am still testing my new G2-8300FW. After the Pentax 75 and the Canaon EF 200 I checked the Canon EF 50 the day before yesterday.

16x600s with Astronomik Halpha, 50mm at f/3.5

I did not hit the focus exactly. This intensified the distortion of the stars in the corners. I have to do a 2nd attempt with exact focus for giving a final assessment.

Try the lens correction tools in CS they will sort those stars out for you...

I tried to highlight the constellation. But you are right, no good idea. Normally I never use this spikes tool.

Great stuff Werner. I have just done this area in an 85mm lens but as a 6 panel. Go for the full Meissa (Lambda Orionis) nebula at the top, too, because it is beautiful.

I think I will leave the diaphragm shadows in place on my final image because I know what you mean about picking out the constellation.

Yes, the northern cloud is nice. But I would need a larger chip for it.

Not so keen on the spikes but the rest of it is superb!!!!

Spikes are gone , I think its better now.

Superb Werner. How are you attaching your lenses to the camera and fitting in the filter. Is this a 2" or a T2 filter?

Very nice indeed. There is a small maltese cross effect that might be a lens issue, a smaller aperture might help.
