Vic&Al
Hi all,After getting home late last night (bit tipsy) found the sky to be exeptionally clear and -2, so after a quick fumble in the dark setting up managed to get a decent (I hope!) shot at M42.Were in a badly light polluted suberb so I was quite suprised at how this shot came out, the orange blur to the bottom right is our TV aerial.Exp 45 sec RAW, ISO 640, Tungsten WB, no guiding (yet!)Would love any feedback on how to improve..Cheers Vic & Al

Vic&Al
Thanks for the replies, and thanks for the tweak Greenkat, it looks great. Cant wait for the clouds to clear again!Would it be worth stacking images of this exposure length? Please forgive the newb question.
Beyond_Vision
A good start Vic and Al. I would invest in a light pollution filter and then you would be able to take longer exposures. Stacking images would be the way to go as this will reduce the noise in the image and effectively give you longer exposure.RegardsKevin
Vic&Al
Thanks for the encouragment!I have been looking at a filter which clips directly into the eos camera fitting, I like the idea of it protecting the chip too.Not been clear enough to get any more data for stacking as yet but have been playing with the original RAW (i am chuffed with my first go) so hopes you like it... BlueAstra
Nice picture! I jumped in as well for a go. A bit of gradiant removal and level-curve tweaking. Not quite sure about the magenta colour, I think most others show it a little redder.
ollypenrice
To de-magenta an image just lift the green a little.Very impressive debut, Vic and Al.Olly
