I am having trouble learning star names because I'm not sure how to pronounce them. 'Dubhe'??? I have found a few names broken up into understandable sylables in 'Turn Left at Orion' but is there a resource of 'how they sound' anywhere?

"Doo-bah" or "Doo-bay".

My copy of "Starry Night Pro" has a feature where you right click on an object and, if it has a proper name, it offers to pronounce it for you. Needs a working sound card in the computer to work properly.

And if you come accross Bootes (bo' oh tees) - just call it "boots" cos it don't really matter so long as you can see it lol

I usually slaughter pronunciations.. to me they're Doobie and Booties.

(Never had a problem with Zuben Elgenubi though, go figure. )
