ORION Wide Field 17 Nov

First try at total Orion.

6 x 10secs subs @ 800 ISO. Canon 35mm lens at F 5.6 piggybacked on TAL

Taken at 10-30pm last night. Orion's left foot was just about on the horizion - plenty of LP!

Had fun trying to get rid of the gradient. Couldn't manage to take subs longer than 10 secs because of small clouds crossing.

I attach one of the original, unprocessed subs - this shows the gradient problem.

Thanks for the comments. It's definitely my fav constellation.

The answer to your question is - with great difficulty.

I've never had to remove such a huge gradient before.

I realise now that widefield shots must nearly always suffer from more light pollution than close up scope shots.

I will post an outline for you of what I did on 'Imaging Processing Techniques', just as soon as I can.

I tried a few different ways before I found one that worked on this image.
