Hartley 17 Oct through a webcam

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I can't compete with Nick and co and their amazing shots but thought I'd demonstrate how hard it can be to see with a webcam, lots of light pollution and three-quarters of the moon lighting up the sky :)

Taken with a PSEye, one second exposures (I couldn't polar align so couldn't use longer), and a Skywatcher Explorer 130P with RA drive from central London. Stacked in Registax and gradients removed with Iris. The top right star of the triangle is HIP 22817.

The two images are roughly four minutes apart. I still haven't visually managed to see this comet, which is pretty disappointing. I had to do a quick capture in stack in the field just to check I was aiming in the right place!

Thanks for looking,

Simon
